HDBank - Give Wings to Love

HDBank has always focused on delivering significant benefits, accompanying the economy, supporting people in poverty reduction, and building better lives.

Over 35 years of sustainable development, HDBank has always focused on delivering significant benefits, accompanying the economy, supporting people in poverty reduction, and building better lives by promoting community and social development through three main areas: housing and transport infrastructure, education, and healthcare. HDBank will continue its charitable and social welfare journey towards green, sustainable development, with particular attention to education, communication, raising community awareness of environmental protection, disaster and flood recovery activities, protecting natural landscapes, and ensuring people's lives and livelihoods.

Poverty is a major economic and social issue not only in our country but also globally. The United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals include numerous targets for poverty reduction.

For decades, the Party and State have consistently devoted significant resources to investment and support, ensuring social welfare and improving the material and spiritual well-being of the people. National target programmes on poverty reduction, new rural development, and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have been implemented effectively.

Accompanying this journey, HDBank, with more than three decades of spreading a corporate culture of sharing and compassion, has regularly carried out extensive community and social welfare activities across the country. Active participation in social welfare programmes not only demonstrates HDBank's responsibility towards the community but is also the shared aspiration of all employees in pursuing the goal of becoming a green and sustainably developing bank.

Quietly, but persistently, consistently and effectively, HDBank has spread the nation's good traditions and culture of "loving others as oneself", "the healthy supporting the sick", and "those who are less disadvantaged supporting those who are more disadvantaged" through meaningful, practical, humane and timely activities.

Community and social development goals and commitments:

HDBank promotes community and social development through three main areas: housing and transport infrastructure, education, and healthcare. The bank believes that these are three essential areas and the foundation for social quality and progress, with people at the centre of value.

HDBank continues to pursue the implementation of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. HDBank recognises that only when communities develop strongly and sustainably can organisations such as HDBank develop. Therefore, the bank carries out community activities across all regions of the country, from urban to rural areas, particularly in mountainous, remote and ethnic minority communities.

Contribution to national projects and international cooperation:

Since 2015, HDBank has been selected by the Government as the servicing bank for the Mekong Delta Climate Change Adaptation Project in Ben Tre and Tra Vinh, using ODA funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) under the United Nations. HDBank has also continuously been selected by the State Bank of Vietnam and the Ministry of Finance to service ODA projects for developing clean water systems, building schools and hospitals, and economic infrastructure.

In addition, the bank collaborates with international organisations such as IFC, DEG and Proparco to finance renewable energy, high-tech agriculture, support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and women-owned enterprises. By the end of 2023, HDBank's green finance portfolio had reached more than VND 12 trillion, while support programmes for workers and small and medium-sized enterprises continued to expand.

Specific actions and environmental protection commitments:

HDBank continuously implements solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and hazardous waste and is committed to strictly managing waste discharge across all its operations. The bank has pioneered upgrades in accordance with Basel III, completed a project to upgrade its risk management framework, and issued Regulations on Environmental and Social Risk Management in Credit Activities (ESMS), applicable to corporate loans, particularly credit limits for industries with negative environmental impacts.

HDBank believes that sustainable development will be central to its future success and will ensure that future generations inherit a meaningful green legacy from HDBank.
