FinPanel - Credit: Drive or Driven

About the event

FinPanel is a semesterly financial conference organised by RMIT Finance Club. This event is exclusive for RMIT students to tackle the hot issues related to the field of economics and finance. Through rigorous research and consultation with industry experts, FinPanel will offer novel insight into the chosen topics for participants by giving them chances to listen to the opinions of the specialists and seek recommendations to untangle their struggles. 

This semester’s panel discussion aims to offer insights into Credit for RMIT students to familiarise them with psychological forces and their impacts on the market movement.

Mr Chu Hong Minh, Head of Credit Risk Modelling and Risk Analytics, VP Bank

Mr Minh completed his Bachelor in Telecommunication Engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology. He then acquired his Master of Science degree in Public Management and Economics from Solvay Brussels School. Five years later, he achieved his Master of Science degree in Signal Processing and Communication engineering from the University of Plymouth.

With a proficient academic background, especially in telecommunication and economics, Mr Minh has worked for various large corporations such as DongA Bank, Beeline, Nextel Technologies LTD, Vinaphone, and ALE. Currently, he is the head of the risk controlling, business continuity planning, and information risk management for VP Bank. 

Mr Minh also honourably achieved SAS certified big data professional using SAS 9, which validates his ability to utilize open source and SAS Data Management tools to prepare big data for statistical analysis. 

 

Mr Nguyen Nhat Hoang, Senior Credit Rating Analyst, FiinGroup JSC

Mr Hoang achieved his Bachelor of Economics and Finance from RMIT University Vietnam in 2014. With outstanding expertise, he soon passed the CFA level 3 exam a year later. Currently, he is honoured as a CFA charter holder with more than five years of working in the financial field. 

After graduation, Mr Hoang was an audit assistant for KPMG – one of the Big Four accounting firms. Later, he commenced working as an equity analyst for FPT Securities JSC (FPTS). He is now the senior credit analyst for FiinGroup JSC, focusing mainly on financial information, business information, and Market research & Credit rating. 

 

Dr Kok Seng Kiong, Lecturer in Finance, RMIT University

Dr Kok Seng Kiong graduated from the University of Liverpool with a PhD in Management Studies majoring in alternative financial systems. His research focuses on decomposing the role and characteristics of corporate governance entities and further disentangling the mechanisms of transmission within the multi-layered governance frameworks. 

Currently, Dr Kiong is a lecturer in the Finance faculty at RMIT University. Additionally, Seng has also worked as an academic consultant for a multimillion-pound program aimed at supporting the regional development of ‘Tech’ start-ups in the UK.
