Sustainability Impact Challenge 2026
The Student Leadership Recognition Awards (SLRA), hosted by theRMITStudent Leadership and Development Program (SLDP), celebrate and recognise outstanding students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and positive impact within the RMIT community and beyond. The awards honour students who inspire others, contribute meaningfully to initiatives and communities, and embody values such as sustainability, inclusion, and community engagement.
In 2026, the SLRA will also serve as the selection pathway for the RMIT Global Impact Student Leadership Program (GISLP), organised by RMIT Careers, Alumni and Industry Relations (CAIR). The GISLP is an immersive international leadership development experience designed and delivered by RMIT in collaboration with partner institutions and alumni networks in Singapore. A selected cohort of award recipients will be sponsored to participate in this program, which features pre-departure workshops, leadership and professional development activities, industry engagement opportunities, and cultural exchange experiences.
The SLRA and the GISLP together aim to recognise and support outstanding student leaders while providing a meaningful development experience that deepens students’ global awareness, expands professional networks, and further develops leadership capabilities for career readiness.
All awardees will receive a fully funded opportunity to join the GISLP in Singapore, featuring industry engagement, cultural exchange, and professional development experiences.
Award recipients will also receive recognition certificates and trophies, exclusive RMIT merchandise, public recognition across RMIT communication channels, and valuable networking opportunities with RMIT leaders, alumni, industry partners, and fellow student leaders - helping strengthen their personal brand and future career prospects.
To apply for the Student Leadership Recognition Awards (SLRA) 2026, candidates must:
Important eligibility requirements in relation to the GISLP:
The Leadership Excellence Awards recognise students who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in both academic performance and leadership, within the RMIT community or beyond.
Applicants should present strong academic results alongside a proven track record of leadership, such as leading student organisations, academic initiatives, or impactful projects that deliver measurable outcomes and positively influence others.
This award focuses on demonstrated excellence and impact, rather than emerging potential alone
The Impactful Leaders Award recognises young, emerging student leaders who have made meaningful contributions to communities through initiatives, projects, or acts of service, within or beyond the RMIT community.
This award celebrates individuals who demonstrate strong potential, initiative, compassion, and a genuine commitment to creating positive change, regardless of formal leadership titles or academic standing.
It is particularly suited to students who may be at earlier stages of their journey or have not yet built a formal record of achievements at RMIT.
Candidates can only be nominated by a third party, such as their peers, lecturers or university staff, and community or industry partners.
