1. Innovating Minds: Psychology for a changing world

Psychovation 2026, the annual competition organised by the School of Science, Engineering & Technology, is back to challenge students to apply psychological knowledge, creativity, and innovation to address real-world social, environmental, and mental health issues. This is your opportunity to transform ideas into impactful solutions, tackle pressing challenges, and create positive change in an ever-evolving world.

Who can participate

  • The competition is open to undergraduate students from: 
    • RMIT University Vietnam 
    • Other universities in Vietnam offering undergraduate psychology programs 
  • Students can form a team of 3 to 4 members, including at least two current psychology undergraduate students 
  • Alumni Psychology students are welcome to join the competition

Competition structure and timeline

1. Expression of Interest (EOI) Submission

The EoI includes: 

  • Problem statement 
  • Psychological rationale 
  • Proposed solution or initiative 
  • Target group or context 
  • Feasibility and innovation 
  • List of team members  

2. Shortlist Round: Presentation package submission

Requirements for Presentation package:

  • 1 A1 poster (W594 x H841mm), one-sided, vertical orientation 
  • 1 Video presentation:

Teams may choose any creative and engaging format, such as slide‑based presentation, TEDx‑style talk, Podcast or interview format, Demonstration‑based storytelling. 

Slides are optional. Creativity in format is encouraged,provided clarity and technical rigor are maintained.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Maximum length: 5 minutes
  • Video size: 1920x1080px, HD/ FHD 
  • Content must include reliable references (academic papers, textbooks, standards, industry reports, or credible market data).
  • Suggested platform to upload video: Youtube (accessibility must be set as public or unlisted) 

 

Rules and Guidelines

  • Submissions must be original; no resubmissions from past competitions
  • Posters must be clear, visually engaging, and grounded in psychological theory or evidence
  • At least one team member must attend the poster exhibition and presentation during Psychology Day 
  • AI use policy: AI tools may be used to improve language but must not replace your original writing, voice, or ideas
  • Language of submission and presentation: English
  • Shortlisted teams’ posters will be printed and showcase on Psychology Day, with live presentation and QnA session on-site

Panel discussion

This panel talk aims to support Psychology students at RMIT Vietnam in understanding potential career pathways and developing informed strategies for their professional development. The session will bring together experts from different areas of psychology and related industries to provide diverse perspectives on career opportunities in Vietnam and internationally, with particular reference to Australia.
