More about the academic attire

RMIT’s graduation dress is based on the Oxford style, hence at your graduation ceremony, you'll wear a traditional black gown, a hood or stole, and a mortarboard or bonnet.

The exact attire you will wear is determined by your program’s discipline and the level of award you receive, e.g. Bachelor, Master, or PhD. Learn more here.

On decorating your hat

You can also be creative with your graduation hat by customising it. When decorating your hat, please use common courtesy and refrain from using inappropriate language or images.

After your graduation session, you will need to return your gown but you can keep your hat.
