Connect to RMIT University WIFI

Wherever you are on campus, no matter how you work, you can connect to RMIT’s wireless network. 

Connecting is as simple as:

1. Choosing RMIT-University.

  • RMIT - University is available to RMIT students, RMIT staff and authorised visitors. This secure or ‘closed access’ network will appear in the wifi settings of your device. It enables authorised users to access the internet and RMIT’s network.
  • RMIT - Guest is the temporary network available to first-time users of the RMIT community. This ‘open access’ network will appear in the wifi settings of any device you may choose to work on.

2. Entering your RMIT ID and password.

  • For more information about how to get connected see the instruction below. It contains step-by-step instructions explaining how to gain access to the RMIT wireless networks, no matter which mobile device or laptop you bring on campus.

RMIT systems log in

Your RMIT login details are used to access all RMIT systems, including your RMIT email, myRMIT, campus WiFi, myTimetable and Canvas.

Are you new to RMIT?

See below for instructions on how to log in for the first time. If you've logged in before, you can change or reset your password using the buttons above.

Log in for the first time:

  1. Determine your RMIT ID and temporary password
    • Your RMIT ID (username) is the letter ‘s’ followed by your student number (excluding any additional letters). You’ll find your student number in your RMIT enrolment email.
      Example: If your student number is 4012345, then your RMIT ID would be s4012345.
    • Your temporary password is the letter 'p' followed by your date of birth backwards, with an exclamation mark '!' at the end. The format should be pYYYYMMDD!
      Example: If your date of birth is 8 April 2002, then your password is p20020408!
  2. Change your password
    Log in and change your password
    Log in using your temporary login details (see above) and change your password to something hard to guess but easy to remember. Some details to note:
    • Have to have more than 8 characters
    • Have at least 1 number, 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, 1 special character (e.g. !, @, #, $, etc.)
    • Must not contain personal information (e.g: First/middle/last name, Date of Birth, RMIT ID, Phone number, etc.)

  3. Set up your multi-factor authentication
    Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required when logging in to most RMIT systems and applications. This increases our cyber security and further protects RMIT's systems.

    Make sure your mobile and personal email contact details are current by contacting Student Connect to update your personal information.

RMIT provides all students with a free email account upon enrolment. We’ll send important information to your student email, so make sure you check it regularly.

 

Logging in

The University’s email provider is Microsoft Outlook. Access your RMIT email account via the Outlook login page.

To log in to your email account, use your email address and RMIT systems password.

 

Email address

Your email is your student ID followed by @rmit.edu.vn

For example: s1234567@rmit.edu.vn

 

Password

The password you created via the Password page.

New to RMIT? Find out how to log in for the first time and change your password.

Forgotten your password? Go to Password assistance to reset it. If you're having trouble logging in, contact the IT Service and Support Centre.

Remember: Don’t check ‘Stay signed in’ when accessing from a public or shared computer.

Free software and apps for students

RMIT students can access a wide range of free software and applications. Some software is only freely available to students in particular programs or courses, others are free for all students.

Adobe Express and Adobe Creative Cloud

RMIT students can access Adobe Express (Premium) for free. This easy-to-use program allows everyone to create their own designs, edit photos and videos, access a range of templates, utilises generative AI capabilities and more.

Students who need more technical programs in the suite for their RMIT learning or research will continue to have free access to the entire Adobe Creative Cloud.

Microsoft Office 365 products

RMIT gives you free access to Microsoft Office 365 apps, including:

  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • OneNote
  • Publisher
