Overview

The demand for high quality film and video content has never been greater with local and international companies needing skilled and creative filmmakers to produce engaging content for the communications, entertainment, advertising and online industries. 

You can turn your passion for storytelling and content creation into a successful and satisfying career through this industry-leading program in Vietnam. 

Employers are constantly searching for talented and qualified professionals to create adverts, music videos, web series and features for social media, TV, mobile and web, or the cinema.  

This program will train you in how to:

  • Build a story (screenwriting, directing, producing)
  • Create content (camerawork, lighting, editing, sound)
  • Understand narrative (themes and genres)

In your final year, you will use all your new skills to produce a major film or video as part of a final project.

  • (I) Film-/video-making strand: storytelling, directing, producing
  • (II) Technical studio strand: camerawork, lighting, editing
  • (III) Concepts and debates strand: themes, genres

*General elective: Students can choose from elective courses offered across the university in any program. 

Learning, teaching and assessment

  • Teaching methods include tutorials, workshops, demonstrations and special seminars by experienced film and video professionals
  • Ongoing assessment throughout the program includes individual and group exercises and assignments, analytical reports, essays, technical activities and presentations, studio-based project work

As a graduate you will develop the following program learning outcomes:

  1.  Use industry, social, cultural and historical contextual knowledge to explain and analyse digital film and video practice and culture
  2. Interpret global communication and media theory to define and evaluate digital film- and video-making production processes and outputs 
  3. Develop narratives and screenplays and achieve storytelling outcomes for digital film and video
  4. Select and use contemporary tools, methods and approaches to envision, develop and produce digital film and video work
  5. Communicate with a range of stakeholders to plan, organise, execute and evaluate team-based and self-managed digital film and video projects
  6. Apply critical and creative thinking skills and use self-reflection to develop ethical and professional capabilities

Facilities

Students have use of our brand-new Media Studio, which is fully equipped with lighting, camera and editing equipment. There are also video editing suites, high-definition Mac laboratories, digital SLR cameras and digital audio recorders.

  1. The duration of programs is flexible and can be adapted on an individual basis upon enrolment.
  2. Program fees are priced and invoiced in Vietnam Dong (VND).
  3. Payment in other currencies will be converted to VND at the exchange rate on that day. Bank transfer is the preferred method of payment.
  4. The fees in USD are ONLY applicable to those international students who arrange for payment from overseas, as per Circular No. 32/2013/TT-NHNN.

  • Vietnamese Upper Secondary School (High School) Graduation Diploma with a minimum GPA of 7.0/10.0 for Grade 12 (For other international qualifications please view entry requirements by country​

Academic pathway

English requirements

Successfully complete RMIT Vietnam English Advanced, or complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.5 (no band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL iBT 79 (with minimum score of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 58 (no communication band below 50)
  • C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)) or C2 Proficiency (formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)) 176 (no less than 169 in any component)

Note:

Previous study and proficiency tests are recognised for two years from the completion date or test date to the program commencement date unless stated otherwise.

Where you have achieved more than one form of English language proficiency only the most relevant achievement will be considered in the admission decision.
