Newbie 101: The essential guide hub at RMIT Vietnam

University life can feel overwhelming at first: new faces, new services and support, and way too much to figure out. That’s why we’ve put together this no-stress guide with everything you actually need to know to get started.

Check the Important dates and academic calendar page on the RMIT website to learn more about At RMIT Vietnam, there are three semesters per academic year for Higher Education students. The following critical dates apply to students enrolled in standard semester-based classes.

If the first day on campus feels like a maze and you keep ending up in the wrong hallway, just grab your campus map. It shows all the key spots such as the AV room, study room, Sorrento restaurant, and more. Total lifesaver.

Whether you're on campus daily or just dropping by, here’s how to get there easily:

Saigon South (SGS) campus

  • Motorbike/Car: On-campus parking available.
  • Public & RMIT Bus: Check the timetable so you don’t miss your ride.
  • Ride-hailing apps: Enter “RMIT Vietnam – SGS Campus” for accurate navigation, some apps even offer student discounts!

Hanoi campus

  • Bike: Parking available both inside and outside the building.
  • Car: Basement parking is not available.
  • Ride-hailing apps: Type “RMIT Hanoi Campus” to get easily. Discounts may be available on some apps.

You get access to fitness classes, sports courts, and even towel rental; they’re all free. Time to get moving!

Connect to “RMIT University” and log in with your S-number and password. If it doesn’t work, hit up the IT desk and they’ve got your back. 

You can book a session with a counsellor anytime. It’s completely free, private, and in a safe space where you can talk things out.

You get 2 hours per week to use both a Library study room and a meeting room. They’ve got whiteboards, comfy chairs, and even a TV, which are perfect for group work or brainstorming sessions.

No stress, SAS and the Library consultation have your back. They’ll help you master any style of reference such as RMIT Harvard, APA 7th, Chicago B, you name it. Say goodbye to messy citations!

Absolutely! The Job Shop is open to all students, even first-year students. Get help with CVs, interviews, internships, and career mentoring with talented and diverse mentors. They’ve even got cool tools like CV360 and Interview360 to level up your employability with AI on the Online Career Portal.

Just log in with Google using your RMIT email. It works because your student email counts as an education account, even though RMIT doesn’t have a special Canva subscription. It’s free for students!

Yes! You’ll get access to Adobe apps based on your major and course needs. Plus, you can join group workshops, online learning, and special Adobe events. Need extra help? Hit up the Adobe Coaches at the Adobe Hub or online! 

No worries, you can use RMIT’s computers! They’re available in the library and even in some empty classrooms (just make sure no class is happening). Heads up though, during deadline season, they fill up fast!

You’ve got options! Student Academic Success is your go-to for free academic support. 

Want advice from someone who's been in your shoes? Chat with the PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) Team who are high-achieving and credible fellow students who offer 1-on-1 tutoring or fun group workshops. Super chill, super helpful. 

For more in-depth writing and study tips, you can also book time with a Learning Advisor who are pro at helping you level up your assignments and academic writing skills.

Yup! No panic needed. At SGS, just check in with the Security team at the front gate for a temporary access card. At HN, head to the 1st floor Security office to sort out permanent access. But remember, you only have 3 accesses without a student card monthly.

Yes, but new students get VND 50,000 in free printing credit to start with! After that, just top up Student Connect when you need more.
