Tuition and University fees

Different fee groups apply for new (commencing) and continuing (returning) students in each year. Please see definition below, to be read in conjunction with the Fee Group definitions:

New (Commencing) students:

  • New to the University or returning after a period of no enrolment; or
  • Completed an HE program and enrolling in another HE program; or 
  • Completed Teen/Summer Teen/Corporate training courses and starting an HE program; AND not otherwise classed as a continuing (returning) student.

Continuing (Returning) students:

  • Continuing in a HE program from the previous year (including HE Single Course study/Study Abroad Students); or Articulating from a pathway program (e.g., UniSTART, Foundation Studies, GC); or
  • Transferring to another HE program without completing the previous program;
  • AND have remained continuously enrolled, or on approved LOA.

Additionally, includes students enrolled in English (EU or IELTS) studies in the previous year who start their HE program in the semester immediately following completion of their English studies.

The medical insurance fee is compulsory for both local and international students studying at RMIT Vietnam. Should students choose to arrange their own medical insurance, evidence of insurance must be provided at least 10 days before a semester starts. In addition to evidence of insurance, international students must also submit a international medical insurance exempt form. Annual fee adjustments have been applied in line with the Consumer Price Index and changes in operating costs, enabling us to continue to improve our quality.

An official invoice is emailed to students on Friday before the new semester starts. In addition, if there are any enrolment changes, adjustment (updated) invoices are sent with the following timeline:

  • Tuesday and Thursday of Week 1 and Week 2 
  • And Daily from Week 3.

If you need to confirm payment, you can ask a Student Connect advisor; however, payments may take up to three days to clear. You will also receive an official tax e-invoice (VAT e-invoice) sent to your student email account at the end of week 6. 

The Payment deadline for tuition fees is Friday week 3 of the semester, except for Block mode and Intensive PostGrads courses as follows:

  • Block mode course: the deadline for payment is Friday of the first week of the block mode.
  • Intensive PostGrads course: the deadline for payment is the day before the course's start date.

From Semester 2, 2023, failure to pay all fees and charges by the Payment Date may result in a student being withdrawn from all enrolled courses and placed on administrative Cancellation, unless exceptional circumstances apply, and a timely application is lodged and approved.

You will receive an adjustment invoice that reverses course fees. However, accrued dormitory, library and other fees will not be reversed.

You can pay tuition fees by bank transfer or by credit card. Visit this link for more details regarding payment methods.

When a number is put in brackets, for example (2,000,000 VND), it means that amount is in credit or being reversed from an earlier invoice; if your total invoice is in credit, you may be eligible for a refund or re-credit; any amount in credit can be used to offset against future fees.

Friday week 2 to avoid a late enrolment variation fee. Friday week 4 to avoid incurring full fees. 

Except for Block mode and Intensive PostGrads courses as follows:

  • Block mode course: before 5:00 pm Friday of the 1st week of block mode to avoid a late enrolment variation fee. Before 5:00 pm on Friday of the 2nd week of block mode to avoid incurring full fees and academic penalties.
  • PostGrad intensive: Before the first intensive day to avoid a late enrolment variation fee. After the 1st intensive day, full course fees are applied. After the 2nd intensive day, full course fees and academic penalty are applied.

You are allowed to come back to study the following semester, subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the Student Fees and Charges Guide. Any outstanding debt must be paid before the student can successfully re-apply for entry into RMIT Vietnam or another campus of RMIT University.

The deposit of 20 million VND is generally non-refundable and will only be refunded if you are given a conditional offer but fail to meet the conditions of that offer, OR if the University cancels an intake into a program.

Yes. The amount you have will be kept in credit and deducted from future tuition fees.

You may qualify for a Remission of Debt. Contact Student Connect for instructions on how to submit a remission of debt form and supporting documents.

Follow the instruction below for online payment via VCB-iB@NKING (only applied for VCB-iB@nking users):

  • Go to Vietcombank website here
  • Log in, select Payment, then Bill payment.
  • Select service, Tuition fee, Select service provider, RMIT Vietnam - HCM campus  or RMIT Vietnam - Hanoi campus.
  • Select fee type from the drop-down list, Fill in the payment amount, Fill in the Customer code (Student ID Number or Birth Date only if Student ID is not issued), Fill in Customer name (Student name) and Confirm.
  • Enter verification code → Confirm
  • Enter OTP (Sent via SMS to the phone number registering with the bank)
  • Confirm (successful transactions will be confirmed by SMS and email).

For Customer code:

  • Enter correctly the Student ID Number with the following format: Sxxxxxxx or Lxxxxxxx (x: number). If you don’t have Student ID Number yet, enter your birthdate with the following format: xxyyzzzz (xx: date; yy: month; zzzz: year).

For Customer name: 

  • Enter full name of Student – NOT name of account owner if the account owner is not the student.

Cashless campus

Yes, all cards and bank transfers are accepted.

No.

Yes, you can use QR codes that link to multiple e-wallets/banks.

You can use electric devices such as smartphone, tablet to scan the QR code that connects to an e-wallet application. Each vendor will choose to connect with different brands of e-wallet to provide customers with various choices that are available in their devices.

In SGS campus, student can buy a VietcomBank (VCB) Prepaid Debit Card at the cashier counter at Level 1, Building 2. This card is only offered to students who are ineligible to open a bank account and guests visiting campus.

Hanoi campus do not offer food and parking services. 

You can choose to pay parking fees by cash or cashless methods upon your preference.

Saigon South: Banking staff will support to take payment at cashier counter in regular working day.

Hanoi: Cashier counter will close. All transactions will be at VCB counter in the same RMIT building

Danang: Banking staff will support to take payment at the cashier during agreed days following to payment schedule of SEUP. RMIT’s cashier counter will close out of agreed days.

You can make payment by an external bank transfer or international bank cards at POS machine. 

You can purchase a Gift Card at the cashier counter at Level 1, Building 2, SGS campus and then use it for your payment. 

Other information on cashless campus

The VietcomBank (VCB) Gift Card is issued on SGS campus by VCB at the cashier counter: Level 1, Building 2. It is only offered to students who are ineligible to open a bank account or first-time visitors to campus.

It is not required to have a Gift Card to use services if you already have other bank cards or use e-wallets.

The VCB Gift Card is only offered at Saigon South campus. It can be bought at our cashier counter located at Level 1, Building 2 from Monday to Friday during working hours (8am-12pm / 1-5pm).

The VCB gift card can be used to pay for food and drink and parking fees. Therefore, it only valid in SGS campus because RMIT does not offer these services in Hanoi and Danang campuses. 

The balance on this card is not eligible for cashback. The value of the card is VND 100,000 and you can use it in RMIT campuses in 3 years from the issuance date. 

The card will expire 3 years from the issuance date.

The VCB Gift Card once assigned is your responsibility. RMIT and VCB are not responsible for the security or replacement of your card if lost. 

You can check the balance at the VCB cashier located on campus at Level 1, Building 2 

It varies. Please check with the vendors for e-wallet options.

You will park your vehicle at a separate area and then buy a Vietcombank Gift Card at the cashier counter Level 1, Building 2, SGS campus. The parking fee will be paid when check-out. Besides that, you need to check with the issuer bank for an error and issue a new card if needed.
