How to apply for a refund

Learn the eligibility criteria and the procedure on how to apply for a refund.

Eligibility criteria

If you make changes to your enrolment before the census date, this may reduce your fees for that term which may result in a credit balance. These changes include:

  • withdrawing course or withdrawing from your program, or
  • taking an approved leave of absence

Changes to enrolment made after census date will not result in a credit balance. Based on RMIT's refund policy, overpayments will be assessed case-by-case and may not be refundable.

Refunds will be processed to the account holder (the original payer) who made the payment.

If the receiver is not the original payer, please contact Student Connect for further support.

Processing timeline

  • Domestic refund applications that are correct and complete will be processed in 20 working days.
  • International refund applications that are correct and complete will be processed in more than 20 working days. The Bank may request extra information from the receiver, so students might be contacted if any additional details are required.
