Graduation ceremonies on RMIT's Saigon South campus will take place from Monday, 13 April to Thursday, 16 April 2026.

Each graduand may invite up to two (2) guests/family members, including adults and children aged 12 years and above, to attend the ceremony.

If you would like to invite guests to attend your ceremony, please complete the relevant guest registration form by 31 March 2026. Please note that this form can only be submitted once.

After registration closes, guest e-tickets will be sent by email in early April.

Pre-graduate photography and filming regulations

Students and alumni attending the 2026 Graduation Ceremony are permitted to take photos or film at SGS campus only, subject to the guidelines below. 

1.  Eligibility & Registration 

The following individuals are permitted to access campus for pre-graduation photography: 

  • Students with a valid RMIT Vietnam student ID card
  • Alumni attending the 2026 Graduation Ceremony with a valid Alumni card

Each student may attend with a maximum of two (2) additional individuals, forming a group of no more than three (3) people in total. All individuals must be current students or eligible alumni with valid RMIT ID. 

The graduand is required to register in advance before 30 March 2026, via the official form and attend their registered session only: 

Security personnel have the authority to monitor, verify, and stop any activities that do not comply with the guidelines outlined below:

2. Photography location 

Graduation photography and filming are allowed only in SGS campus in the following areas:  

  • Pathways between all buildings 
  • Lawns  
  • Outdoor sports fields/courts  
  • Building halls (must not enter classrooms or disrupt other activities)  
  • REC lobby (must not disrupt other users)  
  • Food court areas outside Building 1 and Building 2 (SGS Campus)  

Please note: Photography must not obstruct pathways, entrances, or facilities essential for academic and administrative operations.  

3. Approved photography/filming period: 1-10 April 2026

  • Morning session: 8am - 1pm 
  • Afternoon session: 1pm - 6pm 

Students are required to attend and complete their photography within their registered session.  

The University does not guarantee exclusive access to any location or uninterrupted photography conditions. 

4. Purpose of photography/filming​

Authorisation applies exclusively to photoshoots with RMIT graduation gowns.  

The use of graduation gowns and other graduation-related props should reflect the authentic spirit of the occasion.  

Unauthorised gatherings and commercial photography sessions will not be allowed. Security personnel have the authority to check and stop activities that violate the purpose of the shoot.  

5. Restrictions on external photographers​

  • Only individuals with valid RMIT student cards or Alumni cards are permitted on campus 
  • External photographers or any external individuals are not allowed. 

6. Respect for campus experience 

  • Photography must not obstruct pathways, entrances, or facilities essential for academic and administrative operations. 
  • Photography is prohibited in emergency exit stairwell area.
  • Drones and other aerial photography equipment are not permitted.  
  • Photography or filming of any other individual is strictly prohibited without their permission and consent. Non-consenting individuals should not be identifiable in any of the images. 
  • The use of extensive filming equipment, loud music, excessive noise, or activities that may disrupt campus operations is not allowed.

Graduation is a big moment, and we’ll guide you through it step by step. Below is what to expect on the day and the schedule you’ll need to plan ahead.

Ceremony schedule and times subject to change.

Morning Session Afternoon Session Details
7.00am 12.00pm Check-in Begins: SGS main gate opens to graduates and guests. Graduates enter the event hall and are seated.
8.20am 1.20pm Graduates Rehearsal
8.45am 1.45pm Guest Seating: Guests enter the event hall or outdoor seating zone (based on tickets). There are no reserved seats; guests may sit anywhere within the allocated Zone A or B.
9.15am 2.15pm Check-in Closes and Ceremony Starts
11.00am 4.00pm Ceremony Ends and Group Photo
  • Graduands are requested to be at the ceremony hall for rehearsal 60 minutes before the ceremony starts.
  • Check in for ceremony hall access will be closed strictly 15 minutes before the ceremony starts.
  • All guests and graduates are expected to stay until the end of the ceremony.

What to bring and when you arrive

What to bring

  • Your graduation dress (gown + hood + mortarboard)
  • Your ticket(s)
  • Your guests must keep their guest tickets.
  • Photo ID for check-in: you and your guests need to show graduation tickets + valid National ID / passport / driver’s license at the check-in table. Soft copies of the above documents are accepted.

Note: Please keep belongings light.

 

What NOT to bring

  • Valuables (The event can be very crowded, and some areas may not be under CCTV surveillance.)
  • Pets (Only service animals are allowed in the event venue)
  • Foods and drinks (Only water is allowed in the event hall)

 

When you arrive

  • Go to the check-in desk first; ensure your check-in details match your registration
  • Plan to arrive early enough for rehearsal, and note that check-in closes 15 minutes before the ceremony starts.
  • Collect your name card from our staff before you enter the event hall and keep them carefully.
  • Your guests will remain outside and will join you in the event hall after the rehearsal completes.

What to do before, during and after you go on stage

Before you go on stage

  • Attend rehearsal (required)
  • Sit in your allocated seat and stay in the correct order, ushers will guide you when it’s time to line up for the stage.
  • Keep your name card with you and follow staff marshals’ instructions.

When on stage

  • Face the academic presenting the scroll
  • Doff (touch the front of) your cap. Not sure how to doff? Find out how.
  • Take the scroll from the academic. Your name and program/s you're graduating from will display on a screen above the stage.
  • Your on-stage moment is professionally photographed as you receive your award/testamur folder.
  • Stage etiquette to keep things moving: embrace your moment but keep it quick and follow the marshal/usher cues.

After you come off stage

  • Follow instructions from event staff to the designated area to collect your testamur
  • Return to your seat, and remain seated until the end of the ceremony.
  • Remind guests: no approaching the stage area for photos during proceedings.

Your testamur and other statements

If you're graduating at the ceremony, you will receive your hard-copy testamur at the ceremony after you have been presented on stage.

If you graduate in absentia before the ceremony but choose to attend the ceremony, you won't receive a hard copy testamur. Your ceremony fee is reduced to reflect this.

Academic statements have now gone digital, via My eQuals. You already have the access to your digital official testamur and transcript via My eQuals – they are securely stored and permanently available anytime and anywhere. Please make sure your personal email is updated with RMIT. Read more here.

After the ceremony

Gown return

Please make sure you return the gowns and hoods at the designated locations/drop off point before you leave the ceremony. You can keep your mortarboard with you. 

Ceremony photo

Photos taken by the authorised photographer team will be uploaded to Flickr after the cermonies.

Your official digital testamur and transcript

Academic statements have now gone digital, via My eQuals. You already have the access to your digital official testamur and transcript via My eQuals – they are securely stored and permanently available anytime and anywhere. Please make sure your personal email is updated with RMIT.

Smart casual or formal business attire. Please wear comfortable dress shoes, as you will be walking up and down stage stairs.

Yes, rehearsal is compulsory. If you miss it, you risk losing your seat and place in the stage procession.

No. Guests must remain in their seats so everyone can see. Professional photographers will take a close-up photo of you on stage.

The ceremony lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. You must stay for the entire ceremony. Leaving early disrupts the event and is disrespectful to your fellow classmates who are waiting to cross the stage.
