RMIT new alumni guide: Benefits, access, and what to do next

Graduation isn’t the end of your RMIT chapter. As you step forward, you may be saying goodbye to certain student benefits and familiar routines. But not everything changes. Here’s what shifts after graduation, what stays with you, and how to make the most of life as an RMIT alumnus.

Say goodbye to all your student account

Here’s something important to know: within 24 hours after graduation, you’ll lose access to all current student accounts, from Canvas to Microsoft services like OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook.

Make sure to download anything you might need in the future: lecture materials, assignments, documents, photos, or any files you think are important. It’s always better to keep a backup, just in case.

Unlock your Alumni benefits at RMIT Vietnam

Your student ID card may expire after graduation, but your connection with RMIT continues through the Alumni E-card. This digital ID confirms your alumni status and allows you to stay connected with the university community.

After receiving the welcome email from the Alumni Relations Office, you can activate your Alumni Network account and register for your E-card.

Once activated, the card allows you to verify your alumni status, join alumni-exclusive events such as RMIT Carnival Day, and access selected campus facilities when visiting RMIT Vietnam.

You can register for the E-card at any time, but it is recommended to apply at least five working days before visiting campus in case support is needed.

Beyond campus access, RMIT continues to support graduates in their professional development. Alumni can access career consultation and CV-writing support (for up to two years after graduation), professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and curated Hot Jobs listings, helping alumni stay competitive and connected in today’s evolving professional landscape.

Not only that, alumni can enjoy exclusive lifestyle perks through the RMIT Vietnam Alumni Gifts platform, which offers special deals and partner privileges across dining, retail, lifestyle, and services.

Here’s something even more exciting. If you’re thinking about continuing your studies with RMIT to deepen your expertise, broaden your career opportunities, and remain part of the RMIT community, we have an offer for you.

Give back to current students

Many alumni remember the moments when someone a few steps ahead shared their experiences, making the future feel a little clearer. Now, you have the chance to offer that same perspective. By sharing your journey, insights, or opportunities, you can help current students better prepare both their university experience and the path beyond graduation.

There are many ways to stay connected with the university. You may recruit RMIT students and graduates by posting employment or internship opportunities on the Career Online Portal. Many alumni also return as guest speakers, sharing real-world insights in classrooms or events and inspiring the next generation of students.

Be part of the RMIT Alumni Network

The RMIT Alumni Network makes it easy to stay connected and discover new opportunities. With more than 4,000 RMIT alumni working in managerial roles across 18 industries nationwide, the network provides a valuable space for business collaboration, partnerships, and industry connections.

Connect online & offline

As the saying goes, your network is your net worth. By searching for individual profiles or searching by organisation, you can explore other alumni’s backgrounds, including their education, careers, and professional interests. The platform even allows you to send direct messages, making it easier to reconnect or start new conversations. There are also various events and workshops across different majors and industries where you can expand your network and learn from fellow alumni and professionals.

Partnership and win-win together

What if your brand could drive sales, increase visibility, and build lasting connections with a niche network of over 25,000 well-positioned professionals?

Beyond staying connected, the RMIT Alumni Network also opens doors for collaboration and professional opportunities. Alumni who run their own businesses can partner with the community by registering as merchants on the alumni platform, offering special discounts or services to fellow RMIT members.

Supporting family business owners

In addition, initiatives such as the RMIT Family Business Club have been introduced to support and empower alumni, particularly those involved in family-run enterprises. The club creates a space where alumni can connect, learn from one another, and grow together as the next generation of business leaders.

Finally, the knowledge you gained, the endless efforts of late nights rushing to finish deadlines, and the friendships and mentorships built through classes, competitions, and presentations will always stay with you. These experiences become the foundation that guides and supports you as you move forward in your career and life.

As you step into the next stage of your journey, may you have resilience, confidence, and courage for everything ahead. Congratulations on this milestone, and may your path forward be strong and steady.
