About the event

RMIT Hackathon 2025 GenAI & Cyber Security will take place at RMIT Melbourne, Australia, and RMIT Saigon South and Hanoi campuses, Vietnam. This exciting event brings together Generative AI and Cybersecurity in an exciting Red Team vs Blue Team format. Participants will take on the roles of attackers (Red Team) and defenders (Blue Team) in a series of challenges that test both AI innovation and security resilience.

Are you ready to push the boundaries of AI and cybersecurity? This is your chance to shine in a high-energy, hands-on competition that blends creativity, technical skill and strategic thinking.

Who can join

  • RMIT University students (Undergraduate, Graduate, PhD) from all campuses. 
  • Students from other universities.
  • Students will form 3 - 4 members/ team.

What's waiting for you

Over two days, you will gain a 360° perspective on AI security by rotating between offensive and defensive roles:

  • AI Security Red Team - Explore and test the limits of AI systems to uncover potential vulnerabilities.
  • AI Defense Blue Team - Design and implement strategies to safeguard AI systems against attacks.
  • Generative AI for Cybersecurity - Use LLMs for threat detection, code auditing and vulnerability scanning.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Challenges - Deploy and secure AI solutions in cloud environments.
