My RMIT Journey -​ From Decision to Dream

About the event

Every RMIT student has a unique story. From the very first decision to join RMIT, to the dreams you are chasing today -  your journey is filled with moments of courage, growth, and discovery. Decision to Dream - My RMIT Journey is your chance to share that story with the RMIT community. Through photos or video, accompanied by your personal written story, we want to see your perspective and celebrate your journey.

This storytelling contest is only open to new RMIT students commencing in semester 3, 2025 (Undergraduate and Postgraduate).

How to join

  • Prepare your submission:​
    1. Your personal story (minimum 150 words) that shares your hopes, goals, and expectations as you begin your RMIT journey. Write in your own voice about what brought you here, what excites you most about starting at RMIT, and what you’re looking forward to learning, experiencing, and achieving.
    2. A photo OR a video (2 minutes max) that captures your story​
  • Structure your writing around at least one of these pillars:​
    • Decision: Why you chose RMIT and what it meant for you.​
    • Dream: How RMIT has shaped your goals and aspirations for the future.​
  • Submit your entry via the official registration form
  • All valid submissions will be reviewed by Student Life team in 2 business days.​
  • Approved submissions will be published on the RMIT Vietnam Student Life Facebook page to inspire the community.​
  • Submission deadline: Sunday, 26 October​

Story pillars

When writing your story (150+ words), you can focus on one or more of these pillars:​

1. Decision ​

  • Why did you choose RMIT?​
  • What motivated your choice - the people, the programs, the opportunities, or something personal?​
  • How did this decision change your path or perspective?​

Example: “Choosing RMIT felt like opening a new chapter. I knew it would challenge me to think differently and prepare me for a global future.”

2. Dream​

  • What do you aspire to achieve at RMIT and beyond?​
  • How has RMIT helped you see or shape your future goals?​
  • What dreams are you chasing now that you didn’t imagine before?​

 Example: “At RMIT, I want to build my confidence, grow my skills, and prepare myself to become an entrepreneur who creates meaningful change.” ​

Prizes

  • 100 early bird prizes: For the first 100 valid submissions -> RMIT Gift box
  • 6 staff picks: Top 6 most authentic and inspiring submissions voted by our staff --> RMIT Gift box + 500k Gotit Voucher

Privacy disclaimer​

By submitting your story, photos, or video, you agree that:​

  • Your content will be featured on the RMIT Vietnam Student Life Facebook page.​
  • Your submission may be used by RMIT Vietnam in future marketing and communication materials (including websites, social media, and promotional campaigns).​
  • All submitted content remains credited to the student, but RMIT reserves the right to edit or adapt materials for clarity and consistency.
