How to register for Cross-campus to RMIT Melbourne program

A Study Plan serves as a proposal for courses you intend to study on the exchange program to be credited towards your program in RMIT Vietnam.

Note: Grades and credits of your completed courses at RMIT Melbourne will be transferred back to RMIT Vietnam* based on your approved study plan(s). 

*The transfer of grades and credits will be subject to the applicable Credit Transfer policy and program structure at the time of results being transferred back to RMIT Vietnam after the exchange program concludes.

Create an account on Mobi portal, complete required questionnaires and submit your application by deadline.

During your application, please ensure you have the following documents:

1. Valid Passport:
   • Upload a copy of your information page (which includes your photo, passport number, address, etc.). Please note that the passport must be valid for at least six months after the end of the Cross-campus program at RMIT.
   • Title your passport as "Your student ID number_Last Name_First Name_Passport/Identification" before you upload it.
2. Approved Study Plan(s):
   • Title your approved study plan(s) as "Your student ID number_Last Name_First Name_Study Plan" before you upload them.

Note: All students coming to study at RMIT Melbourne have to meet the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) and program structure requirements, which will be assessed by RMT Melbourne.

Your application will be assessed by the Melbourne Schools. Successful applicants will receive an Offer Letter and follow the instructions in the Offer Letter to accept the offer by the set deadline.

Please note that each student may have different scenarios in regards to their application; therefore please treat your offer letter as confidential and not to be shared. 

In order to accept the offer, you will need to access your Mobi application and:

• Choose "Accept" or "Decline" on your Mobi application.
• Complete Mobi questionnaires.
• Pay the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) to RMIT Melbourne. All students must purchase this insurance in order to proceed with the student visa application.

Once you have successfully accepted the offer, RMIT Melbourne will create an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) for you. With the eCOE, you can start to apply for a student visa to Australia.

Note:

• University Confirmation Letter (UCL) and eCOE can only be issued once the requested payment along with acceptance steps are completed and confirmed.
• Student must meet the conditions of the Offer Letter before an eCOE can be issued.

All international students need to apply for a student visa to study at RMIT Melbourne. You will need the eCOE when lodging your student visa application under the subclass 500.

Students will continue to pay to RMIT Vietnam at Vietnam's rate. Students will make upfront payment before their exchange by the given deadline in the Offer Letter.

Pre-departure Session are facilitated by RMIT staffs, Global Experience Peer Advisors and Global Experience Ambassadors.

The session is a great way to prepare for your global experience – it includes reminder regarding academic matters such as course enrolment, living tips while going abroad to strategies for coping with the initial culture shock or unexpected situations.

1. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC):
   • All international students holding an Australian student visa are required to maintain valid Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) with an approved OSHC provider for the entire duration of their stay in Australia. 2. Cost of living:
   • Cost of living can vary according to the type of accommodation, the number of people living in the accommodation and the location. 
   • You can use this tool on the Study Australia website which features a cost of living calculator to help you consider other possible costs in addition to the amount required for your visa application.
3. Explore housing options in Melbourne:
   • Here are a few recommendations you can look into:
     • Student accommodation
     • Other housing options
   • Housing costs are different depending on the area you live in (suburb vs CBD), accommodation choices (home-stay, shared house, hostel, student apartment,…), etc.
   • Some students book temporary accommodation for the first 1-2 weeks upon arriving in Melbourne and then relocate to a more permanent housing once they find a suitable place. Many students choose to live in the CBD area or suburbs close to CBD for easier commute.
4. Living in Melbourne:
   • To make the most of your experience, you should prepare yourself with some knowledge about local cultures, foods, transportation and so on prior to your departure. You can find one source of information here (takes you to a PDF file from the Australian Government).

5. For international students studying full-time at RMIT Vietnam:
   • When you go on exchange, your Vietnam student visa (DH Visa) will be cancelled as required by the Vietnam Immigration Department. Upon return, RMIT Vietnam will sponsor you a new entry visa. Please refer here to further details.
