RMIT Redbacks

The RMIT Redbacks is the name for all teams and individuals representing RMIT in national, international, and university-level sporting competitions and events.

Launched in 2025 to align with the rebranding of Redbacks at RMIT Melbourne in 2024, the Redbacks identity in RMIT Vietnam celebrates both athletic excellence and community spirit. Proudly wearing the iconic red and black colours and cheered on by popular spider mascots Rupert, the Redbacks are known not only for their sportsmanship and achievements on the field, but also for their camaraderie and inclusive team culture off the field.

At RMIT Vietnam, Redbacks teams currently include Redbacks Basketball, Redbacks Ultimate Frisbee, Redbacks Flag Football, and Redbacks Billiards, with more to come. These teams are selected from RMIT Active Clubs that engage in both recreational and competitive activities and demonstrate strong representation of RMIT through major citywide, national, or international tournaments.

The Redbacks brand is inspired by RMIT Melbourne’s long-standing sporting legacy, dating back to the early 1900s. It embraces a broader and more inclusive direction at RMIT Vietnam, supporting clubs and individuals across both competitive and recreational levels. Whether you're a student or staff member at RMIT Vietnam, if you are part of a recognised Sports Club with an established Redbacks team, you are considered a Redback - proudly representing RMIT in competitive sporting events and embodying the spirit of teamwork, resilience, and pride
