International health insurance for international students

International Health Insurance is compulsory for all international students. Suitable medical insurance will be arranged by RMIT Vietnam on your behalf.

The insurance costs $251 USD (5,700,000 VND) and is included in tuition fee invoices each semester. 

Semesters are covered as follows:

  • Semester 1: 2 Feb 2026 – 28 June 2026 
  • Semester 2: 1 June 2026 – 25 October 2026 
  • Semester 3: 28 Feb 2026 – 28 Feb 2027 

Notice

The insurance arrangement by RMIT University Vietnam only applies to students enrolling in the respective semester.

  • RMIT University Vietnam’s insurance arrangement will not cover students who take Leave of Absence (LOA).
  • If you are on LOA and require assistance with arranging medical insurance, please submit an inquiry on Student Connect Online Portal for support from RMIT University Vietnam.

Health insurance waiver

International students who meet the following requirements may organise their own insurance and apply for a waiver:  

  • International students who hold a Vietnam work permit, or residency permit 
  • International students who have a spouse who holds a Vietnam work permit, or residency permit.  

If you are in this group, you are eligible to apply for an insurance waiver. Please apply for an insurance waiver via our student self-service site called myRMIT.   

  1. Log on to myRMIT and click the Submit Request tile.   
  2. Click on Fill out a new form, then select the International Insurance Waiver form.  
  3. Complete the form and attach all the documents required.  

Required documents  

  • Proof of valid insurance card/ policy which covers the desirably waived semester.  
  • Confirmation letter from the insurance company to confirm the insurance coverage in Vietnam and worldwide (must be in English).   
  • When your waiver is approved, RMIT University Vietnam will no longer arrange your health insurance from the applied semester onward until notified otherwise.

Health insurance waiver deadline

The insurance waiver application must be submitted before the commencement date of the semester.  

  • Semester 1: Friday, 6 March 2026 
  • Semester 2: Friday, 3 July 2026 
  • Semester 3: Friday, 30 October 2026 

*** Note: Late submission of insurance waiver requests will not be processed. 

Important

From 1 March 2026, APRIL International will be appointed as RMIT Vietnam’s insurance provider for the Academic Year 2026–2027, succeeding Henner. 

Please note:

  • Henner coverage concluded on 28 February 2026.
  • From 1 March 2026 onward, all medical services and claims must be processed under APRIL.
  • Claims incurred before 1 March 2026 must continue to be submitted to Henner, in accordance with their claim submission timeline.

Activating your insurance

Once your insurance coverage begins, APRIL will send an activation email to the email address registered with the University.

To activate your insurance account:

  1. Check your email for the activation message from noreply@april.com
  2. Click the activation link and create your password
  3. Access your account through the APRIL Member Portal
  4. Download the APRIL Easy Claim mobile application
  5. Log in to the app to access your digital insurance card

Your digital insurance card must be presented when visiting medical providers within the APRIL network.
