Health insurance

Appropriate level insurance coverage is essential for your time in Vietnam.

International Health Insurance is compulsory for all international students. Suitable medical insurance will be arranged by RMIT Vietnam on your behalf. The insurance fee (approximately VND 5,700,000 /semester) will be included in the semester tuition fee invoice.  

Semesters are covered as follows:

  • Semester 1: 6 February 2023 – 17 July 2023
  • Semester 2: 5 June 2023 – 12 November 2023
  • Semester 3: 2 October 2023 – 10 March 2023. 

Notice

The insurance arrangement by RMIT University Vietnam only applies to students enrolling in the respective semester.

  • RMIT University Vietnam’s insurance arrangement will not cover students who take Leave of Absence (LOA).
  • In the LOA period, if a student wants RMIT University Vietnam's support in arranging medical insurance, please email international.students@rmit.edu.vn

Health Insurance Waiver

International students who satisfy the following requirements may organise their own insurance arrangements and apply for a waiver, subject to approvals from relevant RMIT departments: 

  • International students who hold a Vietnam work permit, or residency permit,   
  • International students who have a spouse who holds a Vietnam work permit, or residency permit. 

If you are in this group, you are eligible to apply for a waiver. Please fill in this insurance waiver form for further process: 

Step 1: Fill in the Insurance Waiver Screening Form and submit all the documents required in the form before the commencing day of the semester.

  • Proof of valid insurance card/ policy which covers the desirably waived semester.  
  • Confirmation letter from the insurance company to confirm the insurance cover in Vietnam & nationwide (must be in English).  

Step 2: An email notifying your application status, whether “Rejected” or “Approved”, will be sent to your RMIT student email within three working days. 

Step 3: If your application is approved, you will be required to submit a hand-signed Insurance Waiver Form to the email international.students@rmit.edu.vn to complete the process.  

When your waiver is approved, RMIT University Vietnam will not arrange your health insurance from the applied semester onward until notified otherwise.

Health Insurance Waiver Deadline:  

  • Semester 1: Friday, 10 March 2023 
  • Semester 2: Friday, 7 July 2023  
  • Semester 3: Friday, 3 November 2023 

*** Note: Late submission of insurance waiver requests will not be processed.
