About the Recreation and Events Complex

The Recreation and Events Complex (REC) in Saigon South campus provides RMIT students with world-class sports facilities as well as a variety of fitness and recreation programs that promote physical wellness, social connection, healthy and well-balanced lifestyle.  

The REC is open to all RMIT students, staff, registered alumni and external groups by special arrangements.

Facilities

Outdoor facilities 

  • Two (2) sports fields with covered grandstand and permanent seatings can accommodate for multiple outdoor sports, such as Football, Baseball, Ultimate Frisbee, American Flag Football, Rugby, Australian-ruled Football (Footy), Field Hockey and Cricket. 
  • Three (3) tennis courts that are lit and marked with international standard lines.  
  • One (1) combined basketball / volleyball court are lit and marked international standard lines with permanent seating.

Indoor facilities

  • One (1) 200sqm fitness centre contains state-of-the-art cardio machines with built-in entertainment consoles and a mix of circuit machines and free weights.  
  • One (1) 1.250sqm multi-purpose sports hall which has a Decoflex Universal indoor flooring, bleachers, spaces and equipment to cater for different sports (e.g., Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Futsal, Martial Arts), student activities and University-wide events.  
  • One (1) music room (West Flemington room) equipped with musical instruments for music practice or rehearsals.
  • One (1) multi-purpose room (East Flemington room) with mirrors and a sound system supported a number of instructional activities, e.g., Music, Dance, Yoga, Meditation, fitness classes. 
  • The Functional Training area at South REC lobby is well-equipped with a variety of training gear including kettlebells, Swiss balls, bridge sandbags, TRX straps, plyometric boxes, stair climber, Assault bike to support for numerous training purposes.  
  • One (1) table tennis area at North REC lobby 
  • Changing rooms with showers and day-use lockers  
  • International SOS clinic
