Landing your dream internship or graduate role starts long before you click “Apply”. From crafting a strong CV to writing a compelling cover letter and confidently handling interviews, every step matters.

To support students at each stage of the job application journey, Application 101 is a new three-episode video series created with Synthesia, an AI video platform. Designed to be practical, bite-sized and student-friendly, the series breaks down what recruiters really look for — and how you can stand out with smart strategies and AI-supported tools.

Episode 1: Unlock CV hacks

Your CV often gets just 7 seconds of attention from recruiters — so making it clear, relevant, and impactful is essential.

In Episode 1, the focus is on CV essentials that help you make a strong first impression, including:

How to optimise your CV to pass Applicant Tracking System (ATS) scans
Layout and design tips that are easy to read and visually professional
Writing content that highlights your strengths, skills and achievements
Using AI tools to refine, review and enhance your CV

This episode reminds students that a well-structured CV is more than a list of experiences — it’s your personal marketing tool.

Episode 2: Letters that land jobs

If your CV opens the door, your cover letter is your first handshake. Episode 2 dives into how to write cover letters that feel personal, purposeful and convincing.
