Discovering VN-Intern Buddy: New era of internship support

RMIT Vietnam’s Careers, Alumni, and Industry Relations team introduced the VN-Intern Buddy on VAL - RMIT’s AI virtual learning assistant.

When RMIT Vietnam’s Careers, Alumni and Industry Relations team introduced the VN-Intern Buddy on VAL - RMIT’s AI virtual learning assistant, many students enrolled in the flagship internship were curious about how this new digital companion could enhance their internship journey.

For one Internship Assistant based at Saigon South, it was a glimpse into the future of student support at RMIT.

During two weeks of hands-on testing, the student found VN-Intern Buddy impressively comprehensive. Designed to guide students through every stage of their internship, the tool serves accurate, up-to-date advice related to preparation workshops, job application processes, and required paperwork

“The accessibility really stood out to me.” Hoa shared. “With just a laptop and Wi-Fi, I could get answers instantly, anytime. It’s a perfect example of how RMIT is empowering students through technology and preparing us for a digital workforce.”

Enhances human support

Initially, there was a question many students might share: could such a tool 100% replace the role of Internship Assistants? But the testing experience quickly dispelled that thought.

“What I discovered is that VN-Intern Buddy isn’t designed to replace human support, it’s designed to enhance it.” Hoa explained. “The Buddy handles general questions efficiently, but there are always unique cases that need context and empathy. That’s where our human expertise remains essential.”

From differing company requirements in internship paperwork to major-specific CV strategies, some situations simply need conversation and judgment. “VN-Intern Buddy builds a strong foundation of knowledge, and when students need deeper advice, it seamlessly connects them to Job Shop or our consultants.” Hoa said.

Seamless experience for every student

What makes VN-Intern Buddy truly valuable is how it bridges self-learning and personal guidance. Students can use it as their first stop for trusted information, then easily move to one-on-one consultations when needed.

“In short, I’m genuinely impressed by this tool.” Hoa concluded. “VN-Intern Buddy helps us take charge of our internship journey, stay informed, and know exactly when and where to seek personalized advice, including direct support from Job Shop Assistants and Internship Consultants.”
