Founded in the city of Melbourne, Australia in 1887, RMIT University emerged from a passionate commitment to uplifting communities and fostering positive change. This profound purpose continues to resonate deeply within our identity, inspiring us across all our campuses around the globe.
In 2000, this vision blossomed into reality with the establishment of RMIT Vietnam. Just a year later, we welcomed our first cohort of students, igniting a transformative educational journey that would empower thousands across Vietnam and the region.
From the very beginning, we were driven by a relentless determination to shape futures, forging a legacy of hope opportunity and impact. Today, 25 years later, we proudly stand with over 12,000 students, 1,300 dedicated staff, and more than 25,500 alumni. Together, we are making a profound and lasting impact on Vietnam's educational landscape, illuminating paths to success and inspiring generations to come.
Our commitment to Vietnam is showcased in our commitments. As part of the strategy, our 25th anniversary celebrations includes funding for the Strategic Innovation Challenge.
The RMIT Vietnam Strategic Innovation Challenge supports new ideas and initiatives that will make a genuine impact on the communities in which we operate, by contributing to the economic and social prosperity of Vietnam.

By providing opportunities and high quality educational experiences to our students, we hope to nurture the next generation into creating positive impact that gives back to Vietnam.
Over the past 25 years, RMIT Vietnam has become more than a university — it’s become part of many family stories. From siblings walking the same stage, to parents and children sharing the same campus, these unforgettable moments remind us: education isn’t just a personal journey, it’s a legacy.
Our 25th anniversary logo was created by final year design student and scholarship recipient Tran Lam Nam Bao.
As we look to the future and what awaits, we celebrate through all areas, both in strategy and together with our prospective and current students.
