Engagement activities

Strategic partnership with HCMC Government Officials

The Hub is fostering the strategic partnerships with DXCentre, C4IR Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Development Studies (HIDS). These partnerships support digital policy coordination, emerging technology governance and urban development research aligned with Vietnam’s smart city priorities.

Collaboration includes joint research and policy briefs, PhD supervision and public-sector capacity building, co-designed workshops and policy labs, and co-hosting forums and public engagement activities.

The SSC Hub also contributed to high-level policy dialogue at the Autumn Economic Forum 2025, convened by the Government of Viet Nam and the World Economic Forum. Professor Trung Nguyen, SSC Hub Co-Lead, moderated and contributed to discussions on smart governance, digital transformation and data governance.

All the Autumn Economic Forum 2025 speakers and panellists took a group photo with the organisers

Public seminar organised by HCMC Department of Environment and Nature Resources and national media.

Further engagement included expert commentary by Professor Jago Dodson on urban air pollution and the green transition, delivered through public seminar organised by HCMC Department of Environment and Nature Resources and national media.

Expanding Business Collaboration

The SSC Hub continued to strengthen engagement with industry partners, including exploratory collaboration with Stone Cybersecurity on capacity building for cybersecurity in smart city contexts, and with CapitaLand Vietnam on climate-resilient housing, low-carbon materials and health-centred urban design.

Connecting RMIT Research Capability

There are more than 60 research centres across six smart city components across RMIT Vietnam and Australia, the SSC Hub is ready to connect researchers, partners and those centres for collaboration. This network supports capacity building, collaboration and impactful research across the Asia-Pacific. We actively facilitate new connections where potential collaboration opportunities are identified.
