Call for Abstracts Vietnam Special Issue, Urban Policy and Research Journal

The journal Urban Policy and Research was founded in Melbourne in 1983 and has grown to become one of the leading scholarly forums for urban research and policy debates, focused on Australasia and the Asia-Pacific.

To strengthen engagement with urban research questions and problems in South-East Asia, Urban Policy and Research seeks to produce a special issue on urbanisation in Vietnam.

Scope and themes

Expressions of interest are invited from researchers who are addressing topics relevant to Vietnam, including the following areas:

  1. Processes of urbanisation in Vietnam, including within a comparative Southeast Asia urbanisation context
  2. Economic development including industrial policy, special economic zones and urban strategies
  3. Smart cities and digital transformation
  4. Planning, governance and urban management, including multi-level governance
  5. Infrastructure planning, development and financing
  6. Urban transport policy and planning including active and public transport
  7. Climate change and disaster resilience
  8. Urban greening and nature-based solutions
  9. Housing provision and policy, including housing markets
  10. Heritage, culture and design under rapid urban growth
  11. Waste management and circular economy policies and practices
  12. Urban research capability and training needs and challenge

Eligibility

There is no restriction on the location or national affiliation of authors. Lead authorship by Vietnam-based authors and Vietnam nationals, early-career researchers, and women, is encouraged.

All papers should include at least one author who is affiliated with an academic institution, however authors from policy or practice organisations are also welcome.

Abstract
No more than 200 words summarising the topic and its significance, the research questions, the approach and methods, results/findings (if available), known/likely/potential conclusions and relevance to policy development. Abstracts should be submitted in English language

Open access publication

Where a paper author is a member of a university that participates in an open access publication scheme associated with Urban Policy and Research the paper may be made available in open access (OA) form. Otherwise if authors wish their paper to be published in open access mode a fee may be charged.
