In this graduate certificate, you will strengthen different aspects of what it takes to be a leader in today’s industry, including corporate leadership, people management, marketing and financial analysis..

Your journey begins with the Design Thinking for Business core course, which will transform the way you think about problem-solving and give you the confidence to tackle complex business issues.

Graduates of this four-course program are encouraged to progress to the Master of Business Administration

Further study

Graduates are encouraged to progress to the Master of Business Administration.

When you successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration you are guaranteed entry into the Master of Business Administration with four (04) courses of advanced standing (equivalent to 48 credit points), and will be required to take an additional 12 courses (144 credit points) in order to complete the Master degree.

Students with a bachelor degree or higher level qualification in business (or a related discipline) will only need to take an additional 8 courses (96 credit points) for the Master degree.

Alternatively, you may be eligible for entry into other RMIT business postgraduate programs.

Learning, teaching and assessment

RMIT postgraduate faculty is comprised of dedicated full-time academics and visiting professors with extensive global experience across the corporate, government and academic sectors.

We provide a facilitated learning approach with business mentoring support, case studies and work- integrated courses that contextualise your learning. You will work in teams and benefit from the additional insight and understanding that come from interaction with classmates who have similar aspirations but come from a diverse range of disciplinary and personal backgrounds.

Each course consists of 36 hours of class time plus preparation and assignments. Classes are usually a combination of lectures and tutorials.

Ongoing assessment throughout the program includes assignments, research, case study analysis, group presentations and examinations.

You can choose to study between one and four courses each semester.

Our main delivery modes are tailored to meet the needs of working professionals:

  • Intensive: Four consecutive days, normally Friday to Monday, from 9.00am-6.00pm
  • Spilt intensive: Two separate weekends during the semester, normally Saturday to Sunday, from 9.00am-6.00pm

Other delivery modes may also be available, depending on the course:

  • Online: Entirely online in 8 sessions in 4 weeks in the weekends or weekday evenings
  • Blended: A combination of online and face-to-face with two intensive days, normally Saturday to Sunday, 9.00am-6.00pm

The timetable will normally be available four (04) weeks before the start of the semester.

Graduates of the arts, business, engineering, health, IT and many other fields may choose to study the Graduate Certificate or Master degree to broaden their career options.

The range of program learning outcomes addressed in the program improves graduate employability by responding to the expectations of employers.

In this program you will apply design thinking and analytical tools, develop leadership capacity and design-based marketing strategies, to create and address a range of organisational issues as a global manager.

On the successful completion of this program you will be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate and reflect on contemporary issues, theories and practice within complex and uncertain business environments
  2. Apply design thinking and analytics tools to develop innovative solutions to business problems
  3. Develop leadership capacity and technology proficiency with an awareness of legal, ethical social, economic and environmental implications in an age of digital disruption
  4. Demonstrate high level interpersonal skills, including collaboration, consulting, critical thinking and persuasive communication (oral and written), in a range of contexts
  5. Apply research principles and methods to business problems, and make reasoned judgments about contemporary business practice

Discount on Tuition Fees

  • Family discount: Siblings, spouses or parents of a current or past student of RMIT Vietnam are eligible for a 5% discount on tuition fees
  • Alumni discount: Graduates of RMIT undergraduate or postgraduate programs, or of any Australian universities, are eligible for a 10% discount

Entry requirements

Academic requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed:

  • A bachelor degree* or higher level qualification in any discipline, with a minimum GPA of 1.0 (out of 4.0) or GMAT 550.

If you do not meet the above minimum academic requirements but have a minimum of five years of relevant full-time work experience, you may also be considered for admission. Applicants will be required to submit a curriculum vitae (CV).

* The bachelor degree must be deemed equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree.

English requirements

Applicants must have successfully completed English for University - Post Graduate Preparation or meet one of the following requirements:

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.5 (no band below 6.0);
  • TOEFL Internet-Based Test 79 (minimum 13 in reading, 12 in listening, 18 in speaking and 21 in writing);
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 58 (no communication band below 50).

Note: Previous study and proficiency tests are recognised for two years from the completion date or test date to the program commencement date unless stated otherwise.

Where you have achieved more than one form of English language proficiency only the most recent achievement will be considered in the admission decision.
