A creative competition for Students, Alumni and Staff

For 25 years, RMIT Vietnam has been part of Vietnam's incredible journey of learning, innovation, diversity and impact. To celebrate our silver jubilee, we invite you to show the world a different Vietnam — one seen through the lens of RMIT values.

Your creative challenge

Select one RMIT value listed below and create an original work that showcases an inspiring vision of Vietnam in 2025 for those unfamiliar with the country. Present Vietnam as you genuinely experience it, aiming to inspire others to view contemporary Vietnam through the perspective of your chosen value.

Specification and categories

  • Format: Use landscape format for your artwork.
  • Participants are encouraged to express their perspectives through any artistic discipline, ensuring that each submission is personal, authentic, and reflective of contemporary Vietnam.
  • Each submission must be accompanied by a written paragraph (maximum 200 words) explaining the concept, inspiration, and relevance of the work to the theme of the competition.

There are six categories and all entries must adhere to the following specifications:

Paintings, sketches, mixed media, or handcrafted works

  • All artwork must be photographed or scanned clearly, with clear lighting and no shadows or image slanted
  • File formats: Submit both a high-resolution TIFF (300 ppi) and the same file as a JPEG

Graphics, typographic design, digital paintings or illustrations

  • File formats: Submit both a high-resolution TIFF (300 ppi) and the same file as a JPEG
  • If the work in entirely vector based then a PDF

Short films, motion graphics and animation (GIFs)

  • File format: MP4, MOV or GIF (maximum file size: 500MB, resolution: 1920x1080 or higher). 
  • Duration: Max 1 minute for short films and motion graphics and 5 secs for GIF animations
  • Subtitles must be included for non-English dialogue

Traditional or digital photography

  • File formats: high-resolution TIFF files (300 ppi) and the same file as JPEGs
  • Each entry should include 3 images that form a cohesive series

Using AI as a tool to generate new interpretations of Vietnam’s identity

  • File format: High Resolution JPEG, PNG, PDF (minimum 300 ppi)
  • Each entry should include 3 images that form a cohesive series
  • A brief description (max 200 words) detailing the AI’s role in the creation process must be provided

Personal essays, poetry, screenplays, and copywriting for advertising

  • File format: PDF
  • Word limit: Max 1000 words
  • Must be in English or Vietnamese (must supply with English translation)

Timeline

The deadline for the competition is 5:00pm on Sunday 14 September 2025.

Exciting prizes

With over 250,000,000 VND in prizes, the selected work will be featured in a premium coffee table book, and exhibited across Vietnam.
