RMIT Vietnam receives global award for PR education

RMIT Vietnam has been named the Global Public Relations Academic or Educational Institution of the Year 2025 by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management.

Unveiled on 19 February 2026, the award recognises RMIT Vietnam and its School of Communication & Design for advancing PR education and research, thereby contributing to the sustainable development and digital transformation of Vietnam and the region.

The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management – a confederation of the world’s major PR and communication management associations, academic institutions, and organisations – represents more than 360,000 practitioners and academics worldwide.

It administers the annual World Public Relations and Communication Awards, considered among the highest distinctions in the profession.

According to the Global Alliance, the 2025 awards received 89 entries from 19 countries, showcasing exceptional talent, innovation, and impact across the global PR and communication field.

RMIT Vietnam won Institution of the Year for its outstanding achievements in embedding sustainability and digital transformation across its research, teaching, and outreach activities. This recognition reflects several years of concentrated effort to make these priorities central to its PR education model.

Since 2023, RMIT Vietnam’s School of Communication & Design has demonstrated sector‑leading impact in these areas. All courses now align with at least one UN Sustainable Development Goal, with 95.7% integrating sustainability into learning and assessment.

In 2023-2024 alone, students gained real‑world experience through 180 project‑based assessments co‑developed with 266 industry partners, and participated in 31 guest lectures and 25 events that connected them with leading PR agencies, in‑house teams, and NGOs.

The School’s research output further strengthens its academic and social contribution. Major studies, including whitepapers on Vietnam’s fast‑growing digital music industry and research on digital inclusion and AI‑powered communication, have informed government, industry, and community organisations across the region.

These efforts have resulted in significant recognition beyond this latest honour. RMIT Vietnam won at both the VNPR Awards 2025 and the ASEAN PR Excellence Awards 2025. Students have excelled internationally as well, earning dozens of international awards in the past three years for campaigns that target real social impact.

Associate Professor Giannina Warren, Senior Program Manager for Professional Communication at RMIT Vietnam, said, “The latest award by the Global Alliance reflects the sustained innovation, creativity, and dedicated efforts of our lecturers, staff, and students. We believe it also helps elevate Vietnam’s PR industry and PR education on the international stage.”
