RMIT is first English centre in Vietnam to receive NEAS endorsement for online delivery

RMIT’s School of English and University Pathways (SEUP) is the first English centre in Vietnam to receive quality endorsement for its approach to online teaching and learning.

The endorsement from the leading global quality assurance provider in English language teaching, NEAS, is for the school’s English for University, English for Teens, and IELTS Pathway courses. NEAS endorses over 200 centres across Australia, SE Asia and the middle East, and SEUP is the fourth of these centres to be endorsed for online delivery.

When COVID-19 struck earlier this year, SEUP quickly transitioned its English language courses online. This required a great deal of preparation and planning to ensure students remained well connected and supported throughout their studies. Both the students’ results and their feedback on the experience was very positive.

In providing the endorsement, NEAS was particularly impressed with the School’s online delivery, saying there was:

increased provision for feedback from both teachers and students;
high levels of support provided for students, including increased student-teacher conferences, tutoring and advising;
and high levels of support and training for teaching staff.

SEUP Director Urica Lopez was very thrilled with the result and said that “the endorsement is reflective of SEUP's effort and commitment to the highest quality standards in our response to the need for online language learning during the crisis and development of sustained online programs”.

“To adapt to the changes brought on by the global coronavirus pandemic, we upscaled our learning model in February to deliver an exceptional online experience for nearly 1000 students learning English across three locations in Vietnam,” Ms Lopez said.

“The feedback from students has endorsed the approach, with 85% of teens studying English programs at RMIT giving positive feedback on their learning experiences, 91% of IELTS Preparation students highly valuing their native English-speaking teachers, and 89% of students in the English for University program rating their teachers positively. Achievement rates also mirror those in face-to-face courses.”

During the current outbreak in Danang and the central region, RMIT’s School of English and University Pathways (SEUP) closed its Danang campus and switched to online delivery mode to enable students to continue their courses.
