More exchange opportunities to the US for RMIT Vietnam students

RMIT Vietnam students can soon enjoy a semester, a summer, or even longer on exchange to the US thanks to a recent agreement with California State University, San Marcos.

The agreement, signed on 4 August, facilitates the exploration of deeper international educational cooperation and exchange opportunities between the two institutions.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, RMIT Vietnam President Professor Gael McDonald said she was delighted with the collaboration.

“There are a lot of opportunities here,” Professor McDonald said.

“The first and obvious area is for student exchange; students can come here in order to get an Asian experience in a safe environment.”

Staff at all levels in both institutions may also benefit from joint research projects and the sharing of knowledge and experience.

“The ultimate aim is that we might be able to look at some joint research projects,” Professor McDonald said.

Agreeing with Professor McDonald, California State University, San Marcos, President Karen S. Haynes said: “Both RMIT Vietnam and Cal State University share a strong commitment to developing students who will take their place in leadership roles in an increasingly global environment.”

“We are excited about the future we can contribute to.

“We commit to international partnerships that not only provide students from other countries, like here, to be part of our campus, but also for our students to increasingly experience that global world in students from afar.

“This transfer of knowledge and experience will buoy both of our institutions.

“I am certain that this partnership will also begin as a model for US-Vietnamese relationships between higher education [institutions] in our countries.”

The signing ceremony saw the attendance of representatives from the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City; California State University, San Marcos; and RMIT Vietnam.
