R-Loop Festival inspires sustainable action across RMIT Vietnam

More than 200 students and staff from the Saigon South and Hanoi campuses came together to celebrate sustainability at the R-Loop Festival, a Library-led initiative designed to demonstrate how small, everyday actions can create meaningful environmental impact.

Held as part of the broader Sustainability Festival, the event was proudly supported by the Students and Education Portfolio, which promotes student engagement and connects learning with practical, real-world sustainability action across both campuses.

The festival transformed sustainability education into an engaging and interactive experience, offering participants a range of activities that encouraged reflection on waste reduction, reuse and responsible consumption. Throughout the event, attendees took part in hands-on green mini-games, explored thought-provoking exhibitions on waste and learned the traditional Japanese art of furoshiki wrapping—a sustainable practice that promotes the use of reusable fabric in place of disposable packaging.

A key factor in the festival’s success was the collaboration between the Library and its student partners, including the Japanese Culture Club and the Charity & Environment Club. Their support helped create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that encouraged participation, creativity and meaningful conversations about sustainability.

The R-Loop Festival received highly positive feedback across both campuses, with participants commending the engaging activities and the Library team's creativity in promoting sustainability. 

Reflecting on the experience, one attendee shared, “Thanks to the activities, I've gained lots of useful information relating to sustainable activities.”

Although the festival has concluded, its message remains clear: sustainable change begins with everyday choices. Through initiatives such as R-Loop, the RMIT Vietnam Library continues to foster learning, community engagement and environmental awareness, empowering students and staff to work together towards a more sustainable future.
