About the competition​

The RMIT Business Plan Competition is an annual national challenge hosted by The Business School, inviting current high school students to think big, think differently, and tackle real-world problems through innovative business ideas.

This competition calls on young minds to develop bold business plans that go beyond traditional models and contribute to a more sustainable future. It's more than a competition - it's a chance to bring fresh ideas to life, gain valuable skills, and learn directly from industry experts.​

Finalist teams receive mentorship, pitch their ideas to industry leaders, experienced professionals and RMIT academics.​

Now in its third year, the RMIT Business Plan Competition 2025 invites young innovators to think big and act local. This year's theme calls on students to fuse cultural heritage with modern technology to solve real-world problems.​

Globalization offers unique opportunities to elevate local cultures, traditions, and resources onto an international platform while fulfilling global demands and preserving regional identities.​

RBPC 2025 challenges high school students to:​

  • Design tech-enabled business ideas that blend traditional values with modern innovation​
  • Showcase local inspiration with global impact by highlighting cultural or geographical uniqueness​
  • Integrate advanced technologies such as AI, Cloud Computing, IoT or Business Data Analytics​
  • Align their business plan with Sustainable Development Goals SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)​
