Overview

This full scholarship is available to disadvantaged students recommended by one of RMIT Vietnam’s nine partner Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) as listed. It aims to provide these students, who would otherwise be unable to access higher education, with the necessary assistance to pursue their academic goals.

  • Monthly living stipend of VND 6,000,000
  • Monthly accommodation support allowance of VND 5,000,000 (if applicable)
  • Semesterly home travel allowance of VND 1,000,000 (if applicable)
  • A one-off purchase of a laptop for study

* Subject to English course availability at each campus, scholarship recipients may temporarily transfer to another campus to begin their studies until the required course level becomes available at their home campus.

Eligibility

  • Be a citizen of Vietnam
  • Have completed High School with grade 12 GPA of minimum 7.0/ 10.0 (or equivalent)
  • Have achieved a minimum of RMIT English for University Intermediate (Level 3) (or equivalent)*
  • Have a disability** and/or be financially disadvantaged
  • Be referred by one of the 09 recognised NPO partners for 2026

* To see how RMIT English for University Intermediate (Level 3) corresponds to IELTS, TOEFL, please refer to the RMIT English Placement Test page. In the absence of valid English proficiency documents, shortlisted applicants will be required to sit the RMIT English Placement Test as part of the evaluation stage. This test will be administered and completed prior to the interview stage.

** For example: long-term physical, mental, cognitive, or sensory impairments; or long-term medical condition.

Selection criteria

Applications will be assessed relative to opportunity based on the following with applicants’ education opportunities, personal, health and family circumstances will be taken into account.

Academic potential

  • Evidence of achievement in school or educational activities
  • Clear and well-written application

Professional and leadership potential

  • Evidence of self-awareness and achievable study, career, and life goals
  • Evidence of leadership, collaboration and initiative in school or community activities

Personal attributes 

  • Evidence of involvement in school or community activities that demonstrate positive personal qualities

There is a screening, shortlisting and interview process. Candidates shortlisted for interview will attend the final interview with RMIT Vietnam in July or August 2026.

How to apply

1. Check your eligibility

Check your eligibility for the scholarship. Explore and select the undergraduate program at RMIT Vietnam that you are interested in.

2. Prepare your documents

1. Scholarship Application Form;

2. A notarised copy of your High School Diploma, or Vietnamese High School National Examination Statement of Results and Academic Transcripts (those who will be graduating in 2026 may submit the Vietnamese High School National Examination Statement of Results once it’s available but not later than 04 August 2026);

3. An ID photo (size 3x4) taken at most 6 months prior to submission date;

4. A copy of your ID card or passport;

5. A current copy of your curriculum vitae (CV);

6. Evidence of your English language ability (showing achievement of at least RMIT English for University - Intermediate Level or equivalent);

7. Evidence of financial status and health condition (if applicable), this might include but is not limited to:

  • Financial status:
    • Certificate of Household status, or official confirmation of significant financial hardship from local authorities
    • Bank statements for the last 12 months showing family salary payments or regular income deposits
    • Other income documentation, such as labour contracts, pension books, or business revenue trackers
    • Photographs showing the current condition of the family home
  • Health conditions:
    • Medical records and clinical documentation, such as hospital discharge papers, clinical diagnosis reports, or recent health check-up results
    • Documentation supporting any specific critical illnesses or long-term medical conditions of the applicant or their immediate family members as mentioned in the application
    • Medical invoices or receipts for ongoing treatment and medicine costs

8. A personal statement (from 300 to maximum 500 words) stating why you should be awarded the scholarship against the above listed Selection Criteria. Please use the following to guide your writing:

  • Your intended major (program) and goals for university;
  • Which knowledge in your intended program will help you achieve the goal?
  • Why RMIT should select you as an opportunity scholarship recipient?
  • Your relevant academic, extracurricular, school, community and leadership activities. This includes submitting supporting documents such as certificates, awards, and official letters, as well as supplementary evidence like photographs or participation records to verify all achievements and activities mentioned in your statement.

9. Two reference letters (from 300 to maximum 500 words/each letter) which support the eligibility of the applicant for the scholarship and clearly state the reasons why the applicant should be selected using the above listed Selection Criteria.

  • One (1) reference letter from the specific partner Non-Profit Organization (NPO) that referred you. To qualify, you must have been involved with this partner NPO (through volunteering, working, receiving sponsorship, etc.) for at least 1 year (involved activities: volunteering, working, being sponsored, etc.).
  • The other letter must be from your teacher/school.

3. Submit your application

1. Combine your supporting documents into one file in pdf format. 

2. Submit all documents to the designated partner Non-Profit Organization before 5:00 PM (GMT+7) on 15 July 2026, via email, postal mail, or in person using the contact details provided below. The subject of your email must be “Your full name_2026 RMIT - Non-profit Organisations Opportunity Scholarship”.

Note

  • All application documents, including personal statements, CVs, and reference letters, must be translated into English.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. Interview date is subject to change.
  • For Vietnamese high school transcripts that do not include a yearly cumulative GPA, the Scholarship Office will calculate the GPA for each year by averaging the GPA of the subjects assessed on the 10-point scale. Subjects assessed as pass/fail will not be included in the calculation.
  • Before applying for the scholarship, we recommend applicants to read the scholarship terms and conditions.
  • The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.
