About

Dodick Sudirman is a Game Designer and Educator with over 15 years of combined experience, dedicated to serving as a bridge between the gaming industry and academia. He currently serves as an Associate Lecturer of Game Design at RMIT University Vietnam.

In 2013, he co-founded GameChanger Studio, an award-winning indie game studio. He led the design and development of a diverse portfolio until 2023, encompassing premium multiplatform titles and free-to-play games. His notable creative successes include the My Lovely series, a trilogy of dark games that achieved financial success, and also a viral game that garnered over 15 million views on YouTube. While he previously oversaw daily operations as the studio's Chief Operating Officer, he is no longer an active part of GameChanger Studio.

Teaching interests

Dodick teaches across the game design studio sequence at RMIT University Vietnam, from foundational methods through to advanced third-year practice. His courses cover game design fundamentals and methods, production workflows, and studio-based development, spanning 2D game development, prototyping, and iteration through to shipping playable projects.

Research interests

Dodick's current research sits at the intersection of game design practice and the scholarship of teaching and learning. His research explores how generative AI reshapes game design education, arguing for pedagogy that develops student judgment over compliance and treats reflection and process documentation as primary evidence of learning. A parallel strand runs through Joystick-Based Interaction, applying human-computer interaction methods to game interfaces, including controller-driven text entry and comparative usability analysis of gaming platforms. He also investigates open educational resources and practitioner-designed template systems that support learner agency, and pursues solo practice research in which his own game development becomes the research object, encoding design experience through mechanics. His recent output spans venues in game design, HCI, and higher education, reflecting a consistent through-line of reducing the friction between students and meaningful design work.
