A thorough preparation and approval process
Following the Forum’s launching ceremony in April in Hanoi, a team of experts from the Empowering educators with AI (EEAI) project and the Government Affairs department at RMIT Vietnam worked closely with the Ministry of Education and Training to prepare for the training program. After careful review and evaluation, the Ministry of Education and Training formally approved the training program at the end of June.
The program features five in-depth topics, from fundamental knowledge of AI and UNESCO's AI competency framework to practical applications, such as integrating AI in teaching using the TPACK model, designing assessments, creating innovative learning products, and building educational chatbots. In addition to providing pre-recorded videos via the Ministry’s TEMIS training system for more than one million educators in Vietnam, the project team is organising five online workshops to create a space for discussion, Q&A, and practical guidance for exercises.
Impressive results from the first workshop
The program has attracted special attention from the education community. It received 250,000 registrations ahead of the first workshop, which was livestreamed on multiple platforms including Microsoft Teams, YouTube, and Facebook for registered participants.
The workshop, conducted by Dr Tran Duc Linh (Project lead) and Dr Pham Chi Thanh (Deputy project lead) of RMIT University Vietnam, was a great success:
- Over 150,000 people joined the online session at the same time on YouTube and Facebook.
- Those unable to attend live can watch a recording of the session, which has now reached more than 635,000 views.
- Educators have shared positive comments and reviews about the content, and sent tens of thousands of learning artefacts to the project team within just two days of the workshop.
