Multiculturalism and student creativity shine at RMIT Light Night

Last November, RMIT Vietnam transformed its Saigon South campus into a vibrant hub of creativity and cultural exchange during Light Night 2025.

Organised by the Students and Education Portfolio in partnership with the International Club and the Digital Media program, School of Communication & Design, the event highlighted the University’s rich multicultural environment and the talents of its students in art, music, and technology to celebrate the 25th anniversary of RMIT University in Vietnam.

The day began with the International Festival, featuring student-led booths from around the world. Guests explored interactive activities, experiencing the vibrant cultures represented on campus.

As evening fell, the campus came alive as a Night Market, hosted by the International Club, offering global cuisines, engaging games, karaoke, and cultural activities.

Students curated immersive experiences, creating a vibrant space for connection and collaboration among peers, staff, and visitors.

The highlight of the night was a 3D mapping VJ show, featuring student-produced visuals and storytelling. The projection combined motion graphics, sound design, and creative narratives, reflecting students’ technical skills and artistic vision.

Le Nha Ngoc, RMIT Digital Media student, said: “What makes us most proud is that we can bring Vietnamese culture to the big screen. Together with our own hard work and the technical support from our lecturers, we’ve been able to turn our ideas into reality.”

The evening also featured live performances blending Vietnamese traditional music with contemporary electronic elements, headlined by DJ and producer mess., alongside RMIT Digital Media students and artists from Kougen Records.

From morning to night, the event showcased the creativity, collaboration, and multiculturalism of RMIT students, providing a platform to celebrate diverse talents and foster a sense of community. The event reaffirmed RMIT Vietnam’s commitment to creating a campus where cultural exchange, innovation, and student-led initiatives thrive.

Ms Nguyen Thi Thao, RMIT Associate Director of Student Experience and Success, said: "RMIT Vietnam is a multicultural environment, and events like this are essential for celebrating diversity while preparing students to become global citizens."
