The new Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) at RMIT University in Vietnam will provide a thorough education in the scientific discipline of psychology and an introduction into the application of the discipline.

The three-year program will provide a thorough education in the scientific discipline of psychology and an introduction into the application of the discipline which will be helpful for students in pursuing further study if they want to become a practicing psychologist.

The program will be delivered through an innovative combination of traditional and digital techniques, which are designed to enhance students’ abilities to become an independent learner.

The authentic learning activities will support students in developing their ability to research independently, to analyse information, and to communicate effectively in face to face and online situations. This approach reflects the reality of the contemporary workplace and will help prepare students for their future studies and for engagement in global and industry led learning opportunities.

Towards the end of the program, students will have a chance to put their knowledge and skills in real-world settings as part of Work Integrated Learning projects in the Professional Practices in Psychology and Psychology Field Placement courses.

Students who complete the Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) will gain sound evidence-based knowledge as a foundation either for entering employment, where they can use the knowledge and approaches of psychology in areas such as marketing research or human resources, or for pursuing advanced level psychology programs to become a clinical psychologist.

They also can work in a wide range of areas, such as education counsellor, NGO social worker, educator, researcher, human resources specialist in recruitment and training, market research specialist, and marketing specialist in customer behaviour and/or advertising.

RMIT Vietnam Dean of School of Science & Technology Professor Julia Gaimster said that the new program will provide opportunities for students to ‘study abroad’ within their home country and will also develop a skilled workforce to support people’s health and wellbeing post-COVID.

“The program is for those who have a passion for understanding the science of the mind and human behaviour, and will provide you with the theoretical and practical foundations to pursue a career in the field of psychology and many other related fields”, she said.
