RMIT Vietnam student takes home University’s top business award

Uyen La (Bachelor of Business, Economics & Finance) has been awarded the prestigious Business Medal as part of RMIT University’s annual Prize Giving, making her the first student in Vietnam to win the award.

The RMIT University College of Business Prize Giving program recognises outstanding academic achievement across RMIT’s global campuses. Prize recipients are recognised from the college’s six schools – accounting, economics, finance and marketing, business IT and logistics, business and law, management and vocational business education.

RMIT recognises and nurtures global talent in all international campuses and Uyen’s combination of academic success, community engagement and leadership made her standout amongst the other very deserving candidates.

The list of Uyen’s accomplishments are vast and include being a Regional Finalist for the Hult Prize – the largest international start-up competition supported by former U.S. President Bill Clinton. Uyen also obtained a prestigious Fellowship for the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity in Vietnam – part of a globally-renowned network and assisted in the publication of prominent articles. Within the RMIT community Uyen founded the RMIT Vietnam Student Consulting Club Initiative, and led as the President, developing it to become the best new club in 2016. Uyen also created a publication in collaboration with the RMIT Vietnam Research Office, whilst acting as a Student Representative for RMIT Vietnam School of Business & Management.

Exemplary of the calibre of talent RMIT University fosters, Uyen is dedicated to making a difference, founding the first online English tutoring program for rural high school students in Vietnam. Uyen, who graduated from the Saigon South campus in Ho Chi Minh City, said she felt honoured to receive the medal, “this is a huge recognition of my hard work during my studies, and I am truly grateful for it.”
