In collaboration with the Japanese Culture Clubs, the event featured cultural activities, hands-on workshops and themed challenges.

Last October and November, the RMIT Vietnam Library kicked off the new semester with “The Lost Fortune of Daruma” - a cultural event held during Week 1 at both the Saigon South and Hanoi campuses, in partnership with the Japanese Culture Club and the Japanese Culture Club of Hanoi. The event brought a lively and welcoming atmosphere to the library, attracting more than 600 students.

The event concluded with the “Blessing of Daruma” workshop, where participants learned about the symbolism of the Daruma figure and its place in Japanese culture. Students took part in hands-on activities, including crafting paper Daruma, making felt paper-clips, folding origami and completing a library-themed crossword. These activities encouraged creativity and provided a positive, motivating start to the academic term.
