This information is for Vietnamese students who are graduating from a local school, and for future students who have international qualifications and are intending to study full-time at RMIT University Vietnam.

How to apply

1. Find your stream

The first step to joining the Foundation Studies program is to find a stream that suits you best. The program page includes useful information including program structure, entry eligibility and fees.

2. Check your eligibility

Age requirement

  • Students must be at least 16 years of age to commence the program

Academic requirements

  • Completion of Vietnamese Upper Secondary School (High school) Year 11 with a minimum GPA of 6.0/10.0; or
  • Vietnamese Upper Secondary School (High School) Graduation Diploma with a minimum GPA of 5.0/10.0 for Year 12
  • For other international qualifications please view entry requirements by country.

English requirements

Successfully complete RMIT Vietnam English Upper Intermediate, or complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic) 5.5 (no band below 5.0)
  • TOEFL iBT 50 (with minimum score of 5 in Reading, 5 in Listening, 14 in Speaking and 15 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 42 (no communication band below 36)
  • B2 First (formerly known as Cambridge English: First (FCE)) or C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)) 162 (no less than 154 in any component)

3. Prepare your documents

  • To avoid delays in admission processing, please submit a complete set of supporting documents
  • Fill out the application form and prepare your application package. Download the Application Checklist to ensure that you have included all the necessary documents to make your package complete.
  • Please note that documents submitted will not be returned

4. Submit your application

Via email

  • Download and fill out the digital Application Form
  • Scan and attach the required and supporting documents (if applicable) in the email
  • Send the application to:

Direct application

  • You can apply directly to Student Recruitment at RMIT by handing in the filled-out Application Form along with other required documents

Via post

  • If you cannot apply in person to RMIT, you can send your application documents using a postal service
  • Download and fill out the Application Form
  • Attach the required and supporting documents (if applicable) in the mail. Refer to the Application checklist to see what documents are required

RMIT’s Foundation Studies closing dates for receiving applications are published on the important dates for students page. Please note, RMIT’s offer is subject to the availability of places in each program, and applications to competitive programs may close when program quotas fill before published deadlines. As such, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Next steps

Your application will be assessed in line with RMIT’s policies and procedures. If you are successful, you will receive an offer letter. You can then accept your offer by following the instructions in your offer letter. 

RMIT will normally advise you on the outcome of your application within 10 business days. If you don't hear back within the time frame above please contact our Student Recruitment team.

Didn’t get an offer? 

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your application for admission, you may seek a formal review of a selection decision in accordance with RMIT’s Selection Procedure
