Chinthake obtained his Phd in Business Information Systems from the University of Queensland. He teaches data science related courses while conducting research about formal and informal online learning systems. He is experienced in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising research students, industry engagements, and course coordination.

Prior to joining the academia, Chinthake worked in Sri Lanka, Singapore, New Zealand, and USA, primarily as an Information Technology consultant.
