Dr Fiza Qureshi is a Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator of Finance at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University, Saigon South Campus, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She teaches finance courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels and serves as a member of the Research Committee at RMIT's Business School (TBS). Before joining RMIT, Dr Qureshi worked as an Assistant Professor and Program/Subject Area Lead of the Accounting and Finance Unit at Southampton Malaysia Business School (SMBS), University of Southampton Malaysia, where she taught various finance modules and actively contributed to research, leadership, and enterprise initiatives.
Dr Qureshi earned her PhD in Finance from the Faculty of Business and Accountancy, University of Malaya, Malaysia, with a fully funded scholarship under the Faculty Development Program of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan. She is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) Australia, reflecting her commitment to high professional and ethical standards. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Advance HE, UK and has completed Graduate Certificate of Tertiary Learning and Teaching (PgCert-TTL) from RMIT University.
Her research is widely published in renowned international journals, including Energy Economics, Finance Research Letters, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Finance, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Policy Modeling, Emerging Markets Review, Emerging Markets Trade and Finance, and Economic Systems, among others. She is also a reviewer for multiple international journals and serves as an Associate Editor for Humanities and Social Science Communications and Heliyon, Finance Section.
Dr Qureshi has served as an external examiner for graduate dissertations from prestigious universities worldwide. Her achievements include national and international awards for research and conference presentations. Notably, she served as visiting researcher at School of Economics, University of Barcelona, Spain in 2025. She also participated as an International Research Fellow at the Institute of Business Research, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in May 2021. She was awarded a full grant and honorarium to present at the International Asian Community Economic Forum in Incheon, South Korea, in November 2019. Additionally, she received funding for a research project under HEC's Start-up Research Program from 2018-2019. With 18 years of experience in higher education, Dr Qureshi currently supervises PhD students.
Dr Fiza has taught a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate finance courses at RMIT University Vietnam. She currently teaches and coordinates BUSM4155 Financial Analytics for Managerial Decisions (MBA), BAFI3192 Derivatives and Risk Management, BAFI3182 Financial Markets and Institutions, BAFI3184 Corporate Finance, and BAFI3273 Money and Debt Markets. Through these courses, she integrates contemporary financial theory with industry-relevant applications, incorporating data analytics, financial technologies, sustainability, and real-world case studies to prepare students for the evolving global financial environment.
Dr Fiza's current research focuses on sustainable finance, financial technology (FinTech), technological innovation, and environmental sustainability, with particular emphasis on ESG, green finance, digital finance, sustainable banking, Corporate governance and the role of emerging technologies in promoting sustainable economic development. Her research also examines how technological advancements influence financial decision-making, corporate sustainability, financial inclusion, and consumer adoption of green financial products. Previously, her work concentrated on mutual funds, financial markets and volatility spillovers, connectedness and risk transmission, behavioural finance, investment decision-making, and portfolio management across conventional, Islamic, and emerging financial markets.
