RMIT Vietnam promotes Vietnam–Poland higher education collaboration

The Vietnam–Poland Higher Education Forum 2025 welcomed over 100 senior leaders and academic representatives from 38 universities and institutions from both countries.

The event was co-hosted by RMIT Vietnam in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Hanoi and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

It formed part of a series of activities celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Poland, marking a significant milestone in the two nations’ long-standing educational and cultural cooperation.  

Among the distinguished guests were H.E. Joanna Skoczek, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Vietnam; Dr Wojciech Karczewski, Director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA); and Ms Phung Thi Hong Van, Deputy Head of International Education Division, International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

The event also welcomed Associate Professor Dr Pham Tran Vu, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University–HCMC), along with senior academics and international relations leaders from universities in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Tra Vinh, and Da Nang, and Polish universities.

The forum provided a platform for Polish and Vietnamese universities to engage in dialogue, explore partnership opportunities, and strengthen academic exchange in research, innovation, and higher education. The discussions aligned closely with Vietnam’s higher education reform and internationalisation goals as outlined in the Politburo’s Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.

During the panel discussion, Dr Wojciech Karczewski, Director of NAWA, expressed his strong commitment to enhancing higher education cooperation between Poland and Vietnam. He encouraged universities to explore NAWA’s diverse programs supporting scholarships, research partnerships, and institutional development in key disciplines that contribute to both nations’ socio-economic growth.

Established in 2017, NAWA serves as a national coordinating body promoting the internationalisation of Polish higher education and research institutions. Its mission includes:

  • Supporting the internationalizsation of science and higher education;

  • Promoting the Polish language and culture worldwide;

  • Strengthening the global presence of Polish science and higher education; and

  • Facilitating the international transfer of knowledge and skills to science and economy.

NAWA and RMIT Vietnam have been working closely to foster academic exchange and collaboration between universities in Vietnam and Poland. NAWA and RMIT Vietnam have been working closely to foster academic exchange and collaboration between universities in Vietnam and Poland.

NAWA has been a close partner of RMIT Vietnam in advancing academic exchange and international collaboration. Through study tours, mobility programs, and joint initiatives, the partnership has helped strengthen connections between Polish and Vietnamese universities. 

In 2025, under the NAWA PROM program, Poznan University of Technology hosted three groups of RMIT Vietnam students and lecturers in Poland, while also sending Polish delegations to Vietnam. These reciprocal exchanges have created meaningful opportunities for cross-cultural learning, joint research, and long-term collaboration in education, science, and technology.

Today’s discussions with NAWA and Polish universities open new avenues for meaningful collaboration.”

Following the plenary discussion, participants joined networking and consultation sessions, connecting directly with representatives from 16 leading Polish universities and institutions to explore potential collaborations in student exchange, postgraduate study, and joint research projects.

In her closing remarks, Professor Iwona Miliszewska, Dean of the School of Science, Engineering & Technology at RMIT University Vietnam, emphasised: “International collaboration is a powerful driver of innovation. We hope to see impactful research and greater exchange opportunities between universities in Vietnam and Poland — contributing to scientific advancement, technology development, and academic exchange.”

The sessions helped strengthen the growing education partnership between Vietnam and Poland, paving the way for long-term academic cooperation and shared innovation.
