RMIT University Vietnam will award more than 100 scholarships with a total value of US$2 million (approximately 47 billion VND) for current and prospective students in 2020.

The scholarships, which cover 25 to 100 per cent of tuition fees, will be allocated across eight categories, including Vice-Chancellor’s Scholars, discipline-specific, academic achievement for both current and prospective students, opportunity, RMIT-NGO, international, and postgraduate scholarships.

Of all the categories, the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholars scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship which covers 100 per cent tuition fee and will be awarded to seven outstanding high school students who have achieved exemplary academic grades and demonstrated outstanding community engagement and leadership potential. The candidates will be progressed through two selection rounds, including an application approval round by independent judges and an interview in English.

This year three discipline-specific scholarships - Digital Business, Human Resources Management, and Digital Film and Video - will provide opportunities for students to study new undergraduate programs at RMIT. In addition to the application forms, students keen to study Digital Film and Video program will have to submit an original video for assessment.

RMIT Vietnam Chairman Professor Peter Coloe said he’s proud to announce these 2020 scholarships during RMIT’s 20th year operating in Vietnam.

“RMIT Vietnam operates under a not-for-profit model, with profits remaining in Vietnam and reinvested back into the University by presenting scholarships, improving teaching facilities, and sharing teaching methodologies with local universities,” Professor Coloe said.

In the past 19 years, RMIT Vietnam has awarded more than 1330 scholarships worth about US$13.7 million (approximately 319 billion VND) to young people from all over Vietnam and around the world.

“As the largest offshore campus in Asia, RMIT Vietnam has been operating in Vietnam since 2000 and has three locations: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Danang, with more than 7000 students, 700 staff and 14,600 alumni.”

“It brings high quality education and high-quality staff which combine with our excellent facilities focused on creating an incredible experience for our students,” he said. “The education we offer is internationally accredited and is strongly supported and complemented by all of our global activities to really deliver a broad, practical and current learning experience.”

“Within four months of graduation, 93 per cent of RMIT Vietnam students are in full time employment.”

Professor Coloe emphasised that the University has more than 200 partners across 40 countries to enable global opportunities for its students, regardless of where they commence their studies.
