RMIT has taken another stride forward, climbing 12 places in the latest global QS Graduate Employability Rankings released yesterday.

The Rankings highlighted the top 500 institutions based on five key aspects of graduate employability – employer partnerships, graduate employment, employer reputation, employer-student connections and alumni outcomes.

Now ranked 85th in the world and eighth in Australia, Vice-Chancellor and President Martin Bean CBE said these latest results reiterated RMIT’s solid reputation among employers, its continued strength in creating quality industry connections for its students and its growing and notable list of alumni.

“By truly collaborating with industry, and understanding the challenges, needs and future opportunities, we are able to pinpoint the graduate attributes that are needed today, tomorrow and beyond – and most importantly, we are able to equip our students to be adaptable, creative and thrive in the future world of work,” he said.

“For 130 years we have been embedding enterprise in everything we do, opening doors for our students and enabling them to step out of RMIT and into real jobs.”

Partnership with employers held strong in this year’s rankings, with RMIT listed at 72nd globally, 15th in the Asia Pacific and fourth in Australia.

With a graduate employment rate ranking of 59th globally, 20th in the Asia Pacific and sixth in Australia, RMIT’s employment rate was listed at 96 per cent, 4.6 points higher than 2017. The University also moved in to 102nd spot globally, 28th in the Asia Pacific and eighth in Australia for employer reputation.

“By creating partnerships across diverse disciplines we drive innovation and creativity to ensure we continue to remain relevant to societies, economies and environments on a global scale.”

Now in its third year, the QS Graduate Employability Rankings assessed 660 institutions, with 127 Universities ranked across the Asia Pacific, including 18 from Australia – three less than last year.
