RMIT appoints VinaCapital Professor of Private Equity

RMIT University Vietnam has appointed Professor Ian Alexander Eddie as the VinaCapital Professor of Private Equity.

The four-year term professorship, established by RMIT Vietnam and VinaCapital, will focus on research in economics and the capital market in Vietnam.

Professor Ian Alexander Eddie, the newly appointed VinaCapital Professor of Private Equity, will focus on research in economics and the capital market in Vietnam.

A recognised expert in international corporate governance regulations and practices, Professor Eddie has more than 20 years of experience in the strategic management of business school research programs and activities. He has held senior academic leadership positions in three Australian universities including the Head of the New England Business School at the University of New England, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Government at the University of Canberra, and Director of the Graduate College of Management at Southern Cross University.

Associate Professor Mathews Nkhoma, RMIT Vietnam’s Head of the School of Business & Management, said he was delighted to have someone as accomplished as Professor Eddie take on the professorship.

“Professor Eddie has already achieved distinction at the international level in this discipline, so we expect his research leadership to accelerate research growth across the University,” Associate Professor Nkhoma said.

“Professor Eddie will provide high-level leadership to develop and lead research teams and programs, while fostering a vibrant research culture at RMIT Vietnam. Specifically, he will conduct research on the private equity sector within Vietnam, focusing on a few select industries.

“He will be valuable not only to VinaCapital and RMIT Vietnam, but also to the broader community and industry.”

Professor Eddie will join RMIT Vietnam on 28 May 2018.
