RMIT among world’s top 250 universities

RMIT has risen to equal 247th in the world in the latest QS World University Rankings(link is external), cementing its position in the top 1 per cent of global universities.

It is the third successive year that RMIT has risen – gaining 57 places since 2014.

RMIT is now ranked 48th among universities less than 100 years old in OECD countries (RMIT was founded in 1887 but gained university status only in 1992).

And RMIT stands at 17th among universities in East Asia and the Pacific that have more than 30,000 students.

The improvement is underpinned by a significant increase in academic reputation, up 80 places since 2014 to 227th in the world.

RMIT’s research reputation (measured by citations of research papers and articles) also jumped 39 places.

And RMIT’s reputation with employers continues to be strong, with the University ranked eighth in Australia – and 30th in East Asia and the Pacific.

RMIT has cemented its position as one of the world’s top universities.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Martin Bean CBE, welcomed the achievement.
