Industry Advisory Board Boosts Industry Collaboration

The Industry Advisory Board (IAB) at RMIT Vietnam aims to provide insights from an industry perspective and help foster collaboration between industry and academia.

At the heart of its Strategic Plan to 2020, RMIT Vietnam is dedicated to creating life-changing educational experiences for students, and the Industry Advisory Board has helped in furthering this goal.

“The IAB advises the School of Business and Management on matters associated with the development, delivery and assessment of the academic degree programs and industry-relevant focuses for research and development activities,” Head of School of Business and Management, Associate Professor Mathews Nkhoma said at the first IAB meeting.

“The IAB advises the school regarding student, industry and community needs related to the programs, as well as student demand and the community’s need for the program.

“It also makes recommendations on program developments and on the extent to which current programs meet industry needs.

“Employment opportunities for graduates of the program are likely suggested by the board too.”

And more importantly, Associate Professor Nkhoma said: “IAB supports the school by providing information and advice based on trends in industry in Vietnam and the region.”

Key board members who attended the School of Business and Management meeting include industry leaders from Nielsen, TMG, KPMG, BMW, Lazada, Citadel Capital Advisors, Y&R, Ticketbox, CPA Australia, TRG International, and Unilever.

Business industry leaders discussed internships, student projects, and the industry's demand for jobs and skills in the future at IAB first meeting at Saigon South campus. The School of Science and Technology IAB members also had its first meeting last month.

“The IAB will greatly benefit RMIT’s students because it will help provide many internship and job opportunities to our students and alumni,” said Tran Ngoc Quang, Engagement Coordinator in the School of Science and Technology.
