Bao Quan was presented with the Roger Hatchuel Academy scholarship at an award ceremony for the celebrated Vietnam Young Lions Competition, a part of the annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
Bao Quan will now represent Vietnam at the coveted five-day training course at Roger Hatchuel Academy, where she can expect to learn from industry leaders, marketing luminaries, and some of the world’s most celebrated creatives.
The intensive course is renowned for helping students of advertising, communications and other creative disciplines kickstart their careers in the competitive industry.
Quan could not hold back the excitement as she spoke about the scholarship: “I did not prepare myself for winning at all. It was like an explosion inside of me when I heard my name announced on the stage.”
Quan later shared that she learned about the scholarship opportunity late in the competition. However, she tried her best to prepare a design portfolio that showcased her rich experience – despite being a student – and her focused determination to become a creative director in the near future.
That helped Quan get shortlisted in the top three of the competition, along with fellow Bachelor of Design students Tran Thi Thao Nguyen and Truong Hoang Nhan, and eventually win the coveted creative academy scholarship.
“We are very delighted with the level of the work and the confidence of all contestants, especially Bao Quan’s,” said Professor Rick Bennett, RMIT Vietnam Head of the Centre of Communication & Design, and Chairman of the VYL 2017 Jury (Students’ category), as he presented the award to Quan.
“This is the first time RMIT Vietnam joined this competition and we look forward to having more talented students participate next year.”
