Newbies get ready for uni life

More than 470 new RMIT Vietnam students at both campuses will transit smoothly to university life thanks to the new Get-ready program.

RMIT Vietnam Student Life Senior Manager Tim Burdeu emphasised that students still attend Orientation Day – the flagship of the University’s early engagement with new students – but now the focus will shift to developing a social and fun environment.

“Throughout the Get-ready program we will offer students more opportunities to experience all the amazing resources, activities and support available to them,” Burdeu said.

“We want new students to start feeling connected to the facilities and campuses, their lecturers and academic staff and of course to each other.

“Students are able to pick and choose what information they need and what is important to them during this period of time.

“And everything we do in the Get-ready program has an element of fun so students can begin to form the lifelong friendships that begin at University.”

The six-week Get-ready program includes three main activities:

  • Orientation Day
  • Newbies social events such as lunch, coffee talk and city tour
  • An exclusive communications channel for newbies to interact and communicate directly with each other, and to receive vital information needed during their first four weeks at university.
