Make a difference, says 2016 President’s scholarship winner

Making a difference has helped Pham Ngoc Phuong Anh win a full-tuition scholarship to RMIT Vietnam.

Le Hong Phong High school for the Gifted student Pham Ngoc Phuong Anh has received the 2016 President’s Scholarship to pursue her studies in the Bachelor of Business (Business Information Systems).

An outstanding academic achiever in high school, Phuong Anh was also a dedicated participant in community activities as a volunteer in an orphanage, and was a leader in multiple student-run club activities.

“Not only do social activities help you interact with others and build friendships, but they are also a plus in your scholarship application,” Anh said.

“I tried to challenge myself and take initiative outside the classroom by doing things like co-founding the Photography club and fundraising for autistic children.”

The scholarship has made her dream of studying in an international environment come true.

“I‘ve put a lot of effort in since early in the 12th grade to prepare my application,” Anh said.

“I believe the teaching quality and experienced lecturers at RMIT Vietnam will fulfill my educational goals and enhance my time at university.”

The choice of studying business information systems is her first step into a broad career path which combines information technology, people and business.

“I’m interested in a way of studying that develops my capability through practical learning and in applying technological innovation to real business problems at RMIT,” Anh said.

“I believe I’ve made the right choice.”

Prior to winning the President’s Scholarship, Phuong Anh also won first prize in last year’s Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training Citywide Aptitude Contest in the subject of French, was Miss Ao Dai Vietnam in 2015 and has won many other major awards.
